Madonna Bodyguards Arrested after Brawl with Photographers

Israeli police today detained two of Madonna’s bodyguards after they assaulted photographers waiting for the star outside her Tel Aviv hotel.

Two of the photographers and a policeman who tried to break up the brawl were wounded, said Tel Aviv police spokesperson Liat Pearl.

“Two security guards were detained for questioning by the Tel Aviv police department,” said Pearl.

The pop diva has been in Israel since Wednesday with 2,000 other students of Kabbalah, or Jewish mysticism.

Madonna’s visit to the country has sparked a media frenzy with the local dailies devoting pages detailing her luxury hotel suite and even her menu for the Jewish New Year celebrations, but journalists have been kept at a distance during the visit.

The scuffle broke out tonight as the photographers trailed Madonna back from a restaurant to her hotel.

The star’s Israeli bodyguards knocked one of the photographers to the floor and kicked him in the face, before attacking the second one who tried to intervene, according to a camera man on assignment for Associated Press Television News, who was at the scene.

Madonna had already entered her hotel when the fight broke out.

Madonna was raised a Roman Catholic, but has taken an interest in Jewish mysticism in recent years.

She has adopted the Hebrew name Esther, wears a red thread on her wrist to ward off the evil eye, and reportedly refuses to perform on the Jewish Sabbath.

Designer Donna Karan and Marla Maples, an ex-wife of Donald Trump, were among those traveling with Madonna, according to the Los Angelese based Kabbalah Centre, sponsor of the trip.

Agreed. But she does expose something along the way: mysticism and spiritualism have been gaining ground. One religion was born with it, and many members of another are infected by it along the way.

It's, uh, getting to be rather "universal."

And here's an interesting site for any who wish to do a whole lot of study (references of particular interest) on who wrote the various books of the various bibles. The web work is bad (too much red text over tiled backgrounds, etc.), but many of the references cited are good to follow. It appears that the author has been extremely into his work most of his life (origins of bibles) but not much on web work or rules of writing.

You'll find a little info on that behind the following. Even those few who study it must do so late in life/learning, and it appears that they reject the mystic interpretation and favor the allegorical.

The cult of celebrity marches on.
I always wonder how in the world anyone could give a damn about the comings, goings, or opinions spewed forth of ANY celebrity.

It's not about being "right". She's a tramp, and a bad influence on young women, just like Britney.

It appears that there was a drive-by or two.

I'm not a celebrity follower but am more inclined toward historical information.

...interesting. The US founders were theological/moral men. They supported moral laws that were rather harsh (e.g., hangings for sodomy, etc.).

And in context, even the Greek-ish Textus Receptus puts the conditions of honesty on judging others and repentance and asking on forgiveness. But secular intellectuals say that no one should judge at all and that all should forgive unconditionally.

...think monotheistic societies tend to go more toward the "progressive" until some widespread trauma makes them want to start over again? ...or that maybe we've built a better mousetrap this time?
