Millions of Americans are outraged by CBS News and Dan Rather for their obstinance in admitting they used forged documents to indict the military record of George W. Bush.
In an online survey completed this week, and with more than 100,000 respondents, NewsMax readers overwhelming believe that Dan Rather should resign as anchor for the CBS Evening News.
Mr. Rather's position may have been further weakened when:
a) it was revealed that CBS purposefully withheld from their '60 Minutes' program forensic experts who said the documents were fraudulent;
b) after it was clear the documents were found to be fraudulent, Rather and Company continued to argue their story was essentially accurate; and
c) one witness, a fellow guardsman during Bush's time in service, was not allowed to appear on the CBS program because he was "too pro Bush."
But the NewsMax poll results show that the American people have not been fooled by CBS. The Tiffany Network's credibility may be completely lost -- unless Dan Rather accepts responsibility and resigns.
Here are the NewsMax Poll Results:
1) Do you believe CBS and Dan Rather used forged documents to make allegations about George Bush's National Guard service?
Yes - 98.27% No - 1.73%
2) Do you agree with Dan Rather that his story questioning George Bush's service is still true?
Agree - 2.62% Disagree - 97.38%
3) Should Dan Rather resign over the CBS story that used these questionable documents?
Yes - 94.05% No - 5.95%
4) Who do you believe most about their account of their military record?
Bush - 87.74% Kerry - 1.39% Both - 4.35% Neither - 6.52%
LOL A newsmax poll?
Okay, so it's not exactly "scientific".
Blather still has not admitted the docs were fraudulent; instead, he said they have not been able to authenticate them. I guess when he does he will "break the story."
Hey, NEWSMAX is as accuarate as any RAT poll out there.
And so should Joe Lockhart, Max Cleland, and anyone else who has anything to do with this mess...the White House has declared war on this one, and the guilty should be punished.
It's probably more accurate than a CBS poll.
Rather! G.T.F.O. !!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a cross-post: It's true - we're now in the post-Clintonian era. The lessons he taught were that you have to win no matter what. He refused to resign, calling the bluff of the nation. Dan Rather is acting the same way - he is calling our bluff. They have no shame - they think that this will all blow over, that most people don't care anyway, and they can still win just by refusing to quit. Oh sure, CBS will take a financial hit for a few quarters, but they'll bounce back. Bill Clinton is their role model and we can expect Dan and his helpers to follow his lead. The rules of the game have changed thanks to our boy President, Bill Clinton. America as you knew it is gone forever.
The NewsMax polls are great with interesting results sometimes.
What a day its been! Its amazing how the media acts as though Rather blundered into this, and is now a victim. A little bit of research reveals Rather viewed the Zapruder film a day after the assassination, and reported JFK's head moving forward as the result of a shot from the rear. The video clearly shows the opposite, I don't see how Rather got that wrong by accident!
O'reilly has Isakoff on to talk about Rathergate, seemed like a bad choice, didn't he sit on a story? O'reilly going easy on Rather because he's going to be on 60 Minutes?
Looks like non CBS investigations will go ahead, and Kerry campaign connections looked for. It all seems like just the beginning.
It's too late for that. Dan Rather must be fired with prejudice, and he must give up all non-vested pensions. Andrew Heyward must be fired as well as Mary Mapes. The entire staff of CBS News and 60 Minutes must be investigated. Everyone over 70 on 60 Minutes should be mad to retire.
