Navy Launches Second Kerry Medal Probe

The U.S. Navy has launched a new probe into Sen. John Kerry's Silver Star citation, after the Navy Secretary whose signature appears on the document said he never signed the award. "It is a total mystery to me," former Navy Secretary John Lehman told the Chicago Sun-Times in August. "I never saw it. I never signed it. I never approved it. And the additional language it contains was not written by me," he complained.
The Lehman document is the last of three versions of Kerry Silver Star citation that have been posted to Kerry's campaign website.
On Friday, Navy Inspector General Adm. R. A. Route closed out a superficial probe into the circumstances of Kerry's war decorations; one that verified only that appropriate procedures were followed when the commendations were issued.
But Monday's New York Post reported: "Lehman's disavowal of citation No. 3 has prompted a separate investigation."
Word of the second Kerry medals probe comes as complaints escalate over the top Democrat's refusal to authorize the release of his full military file.
Last week he told radio host Don Imus that all the Navy records he had in his possession had been posted to the campaign web site.
But Imus never asked why Kerry hadn't signed Form 180, which would authorize the release of nearly 100 pages from his military file which remain under seal.

What is in those 31 pages Mr. Kerry? I wondered how the Navy could drop Judicial Watch's suit the way they did, with three different docs generated for a single award.

An Imus Basher! Say it ain't so, Carl.
I thought the Navy had shut the door on all of this stuff. Glad to see this. The paper trail, or lack thereof, surrounding the SS citation amendments could be the sleeper story of Kerry's past.

Kerry has to wave his privacy right. A fraudulent document is another story!!! That's military law business.
I wonder who Kerry really got to sign for his silver star if the document is a fraud? Like the CBS document, who signed it???

How many young men of Kerry's age decide they want to become President?
I think Kerry is a megalomaniac who was plotting his career years into the future.
But deep down inside he's just another cheap gigolo.

I like how they dangle out the number of unreleased pages. lol
I had not thought about that signature, cuz I had pretty much assumed that it had been machine generated, but with the docs story popping up, it raises a very valid question.

It's going to get even better with the next probe regarding why Kerry's "honorable" discharge is dated in the 1990's.

I would LOVE it for Admiral Schachte to ALSO ask the Navy
for an investigation of how Kerry managed to APPLY for
his 1st purple heart after he (and Hibbard) denied it...
...AND also if Kerry LIED about who was commanding that
Boston Whaler that night.

Forging a N.G. 'file memo' would not bother someone for a second
of they had already forged a purple heart award.

Well, Benedict Arnold was a military hero before he conspired with the enemy, and look what became his place in history.
If the founding fathers had been as foolish as today's democratic party they would have worked to give him the Silver Star and then run him for president instead of GW (Washington) -
Let's hope some of the founders' DNA is still in our national gene pool.

He's sold out his honor, his country and his integrity for power.

Yes, and President Bush's release of his official files meant that they HAD to forge a "file memo" because the official docs. would be known.
Odder and odder that Kerry does not want his "copies" of his documents to be compared to the ones the Navy has in his official file . . .

What's in the records? My guess is a dishonorable discharge. Technical point here. As an officer, he could not have received a dishonorable discharge, only a "dismissal," which is the functional equivalent of a DD. But even then, he could not have received a DD unless he was convicted in a court-martial, which is a public forum and would be well documented.
On the other hand, he could have received an administrative discharge that was not an "honorable" discharge. That is, he could have received a "general discharge," which is still a discharge under honorable conditions (it's like getting a "C" on your report card -- you still pass, but you were not a model student). Or he could have received a "discharge under other than honorable conditions," which is like getting an "F" without being court-martialed. Even then, I am not sure whether it would be protected by the Privacy Act. If not, it seems we would already know about it.
There could be medical information, or perhaps criminal investigatory information that never came to fruition, that held up his discharge. He could have been discharged honorably, but with an unflattering administrative code that was later removed. Who knows. I would love to know what the deal was.
