MTV Running Ad Saying Kids Will Be Drafted!!
MTV Choose or Lose

Last night I was channel surfing and I stopped on MTV. I could not believe what I saw. I'll try to recap it as best I can recall:
They have a Choose or Lose commercial running showing a bunch of people in a party. A girl asks a guy something like does he plan to vote in the election. He says no, derisively. She says he should because of the draft! The announcer says that people should vote becuase issues like the draft will be decided by this election.
I was stunned by what I saw! MTV is trying to scare young voters into believing there is going to be a draft!!
Unbelieveable how far the DemRats have sunk. Just when you think they can go no lower......

Anyone else seen this? I searched their site (I feel like I need a bath!), but I couldn't find anything about this.

I saw the head of "rock the vote" on a cable news show over the weekend saying that they were going to put on these ads. miserable b*stards. W is still pretty strong with younger voters, however.

The announcer says that people should vote becuase issues like the draft will be decided by this election. That's absolutely correct.
If the DemoncRATS win they will initiate the draft for the express purpose of getting people to be against finishing what the Islamosfascists started.

Before people do anything about this, try to confirm it. I know what I saw, but I don't have any proof. I couldn't find anything on their site.
If you do call anyone about this, tell them it needs to be confirmed before action is taken.

I have seen this over at the DUmmies cave. They are working hard to convince all 18 to 25 year olds, and "send it to parents of them also" that a vote for Bush, is a vote for the draft... they have a "letter" to cut and paste to everyone on their email list.
sooooo scary the tactics they are using

Sounds like an extension of their Viral Marketing campaign:

Follows right up their alley with passing along (or starting) urban legend e-mail chains or article passing. It doesn't matter if it is true, what matters is if some people think it is and talk to others, and talk to others, and so on and so on...

Fast counter to draft rumors. Under Reagan the US could support a sixteen division Army, 500 ship Navy (2 Marine Div) and 22 tactical air wing Airforce with an all volunteer military. Today we only have ten divisions, 240 ships (2 Marine Div) and 14 wings. We would have to increase our standing military substantially above Reagan levels before a draft can be considered.

Most of you have probably seen this by now. They're all a-twitter about this over at DU. They think the draft issue will help them win the election, so they're copying this and putting it up around colleges. I hate to discourage our friends at DU but I don't think it's going to work.

Kerry would need to draft so that the US would have an army. Those who the Democrats are trying to scare are those who we don't want anywhere near our armed forces but John Kerry already pointed his finger at them....they would be our "New Soldiers". You MTV soldier, you are all John Kerry will have at his disposal to field an army.

Point here. Does anyone really not believe that the release of the memo story goes well beyond Dan Rather - who afterall is just a talking head - and is a carefully laid strategy? Afterall, Sumner Redstone didn't summarily fire Rather after the admission and there's some momentum gaining on the 'GOP operative' story.
I have a feeling there are some mighty powerful forces behind a much grander scheme.

I have said this here before: Never was the military held in lower esteem than toward the end of the Viet Nam war, a time which coincides with the "golden age" of contemporary liberalism.
It is in the interest of liberals to create "quagmires", reinstitute the draft, and take us down that same road again.
Liberals loved what the Viet Nam war gave them. Which is why wars must be fought swiftly and with conviction.
But a war that has already lasted 1000 years is upon us. Follow the liberals and your grandchildren will kneel on a carpet and bow toward Mecca.

The DU'ers got their hands on an internal memo from the selective service. It was rather long winded memo about the future of the agency and differnet roles it could play, and most went into theoretical concepts. One of them being that the agency has no contigency plan for a skills based draft, and what could be done to register skills based applicants.
To actually put a policy into effect applicants would have to reregister every few years and tell them what skills they have learned (i.e. Medical, foreign language skills, computer technician, etc.). To actually put such a policy into effect, at the rate that gubiment moves, we could be talking 5-10 years at least.
The DU idiots pulled June 2005 out of their @$$ and act like its written in stone.

Chucky Rangle and his ilk. Don't forget that one of the main goals of the left during the sixties was not just to stop the draft it was to destroy the military.
They haven't been able to accomplish this in the last forty years, and not from lack of trying.
The military's success in Afghanistan and Iraq has just made them boil again. They don't want the military to have any respect which is why they took such glee in the trumped up prison abuse.
Don't forget how many stories appeared on the front page of the NYT to keep the story alive, the fake photos in the Boston Globe. And, let's not forget Mary Mapes and Dan Rather's part in this story.
That's why they won't print any of the good things that are happening in Iraq because they would have to give credit to the military -- and they would rather destroy them.
