ADVERTISERS MIGHT CUT AND RUN
New York Post ^ | 9/22/04 | PAUL THARP

CBS faces a multimillion-dollar revolt by advertisers and viewers upset by the forged memos and eroding confidence in news anchor Dan Rather.

"The real asset of the 'Evening News with Dan Rather' is its credibility," said veteran media consultant Fraser Seitel of Emerald Partners.

"Without credibility, ratings will diminish and advertisers are going to pull out as ratings keep dropping," he said. "This is definitely going to hurt revenue and margins."

Experts say ad executives and their big clients are concerned whether viewers might be suspicious of products associated with the show, and lose their trust in the brands.

THE DOCUMENT ISSUE IS DEALT WITH, FINISH THE NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR dnCBS... THESE ARE THE ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE IN THE PRESS EVERYWHERE AND IT WILL FINISH dnCBS

The other issues expose HOW THE MEDIA WING OF THE DEMOCRAT PARTY ACTUALLY WORKS! CBS' "gold standard" included:

1. The widow and son were IGNORED
2. Document experts were IGNORED
3. Hodges was MISLED
4. The old secretary was NOT INTERVIEWED until afterward
5. Staudt, who had his character attacked in one memo, was never contacted
6. The opinions of the experts were MISREPRESENTED
7. The swift boat veterans were MALIGNED
8. George Bush's roomate DURING HIS GUARD YEARS, who AGREED TO SPEAK TO THEM WAS TURNED DOWN BECAUSE HE WAS TOO "PRO BUSH"...

And the list goes on. Fact is, this was a HIT PIECE ON BUSH. And just because dnCBS owns up to fake documents does NOT CLEAR THEIR PROPAGANDA / DNC REPORTING!!

What's the frequency of criticism that they're receiving?

Did they find out that Lucy Ramirez-Mapes' friend who delivered the fraudulent documents was a fellow named Kenneth?

Oh well, as long as they have courage....

This is the perfect time for Fox News to give a presense on network tv. Replace the syndicated shows with Brit Hume to compete. They will win hands down.

My email to the local CBS affilate and their response:

I just programmed cable channel 7 (Pekin area) off my television. I will no longer tolerate Dan Rather's bias or any local channel which continues to carry his fraudulent reporting.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. WMBD-TV is a CBS affiliate. CBS has a long and distinguished reputation as one of the premier news gathering organizations in our country. However, since September 8th there has been intense criticism of the network, “60 Minutes” and Dan Rather.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Please don’t hesitate to do so again in the future. At WMBD-TV we take our reputation and standing in the community seriously. Please know that on the local level, journalistic ethics and integrity are issues we take very seriously.

CSI:Miami is by far the worst. Get Javier Guteirez Guatilupe Contrares O'Mally (David Caruso) off the show, his "tough man" schtick is tired. And whats with his character name? Horatio Caine? Sounds latino and irish all at once...

If there is ANYTHING that the Hollywood Left and their friends in the mainstream media worships it's money. Alas, with a potential advertiser revolt building in regards to CBS I think Viacom Chief Operating Officer Leslie Moonves may have to step in and ask Dan Rather to take a paid leave of absence until after the election in order to save the value of Viacom stock.

"'Without credibility, ratings will diminish and advertisers are going to pull out as ratings keep dropping,' he said. 'This is definitely going to hurt revenue and margins.'"

Well that's how it used to be in this nation; but, the Clintigula years -- I think --- demonstrated otherwise.

Clintigula's Liberal-Socialists proved -- without a doubt -- the uninformed American is a *function* of the propaganda they're fed, regardless how rediculous the bread crumb trail *is*.

No, for my part I'll believe it when I see it.

...& not before.

Oh for goodness sake, the advertisers won't pull out. They'll just take advantage of CBS' lower ad rates. Di-Tech might even buy an ad or two.

Besides, this could be a ratings bonanza for CBS. People might watch now just so they won't miss the moment Dan has his on air melt-down. Does anyone doubt it will happen?

I would try to make lemonade here.

There must be some use for a demographic that is made up of hard-left Bush haters and those who are comforted by being treated like a herd of sheep.

Let's see. What kind of advertisers would be interested in this population?

Law firms, especially those focusing on workman's comp and personal injury claims.
Drug companies selling Prozac, Zoloft, etc.
Certain publishing firms.
Manufacturers of hybrid vehicles.

You are right. I support the boycott and IMO we do need to contact the advertisers.. but I am beginning to think that CBS does not care how few viewers they have.. at least they will have the sheeple still. Perhaps that is all they want and care about.

Losing advertisers is the death knell for See BS. They are toast unless they bite the bullet, fire Harward, Rather, Maples and all the idiots that participated in Memogate. I'd rather see Rather and all of See BS go under. Next would be Commie News Network, then NBC, then ABC. Don't forget NPR. In the US press, I would love to see the NYT, NYP, USA Today, LAT, SFC and the Boston Globe also get a heavy dose of advertiseritis. The liberal disease in the media is so ingrained it needs a visit from rodent/insect control.

I find the following is a question that prevents the standard form letter response from an advertiser's PR department.

"Why does your fine company want to be associated in the public mind with [this story, CBS, ABC, etc]?

You might try it or your own version and see what happens.

You would have to boycott all of Viacom. CBS News and CBS is too small to get the hard leftist communists that run Viacom to do anything but brazen it out and hold to the DemocRat party propaganda line. And you can't let up if they just replace Rather with a fresh lying communist. The people at Viacom should be replaced first.

Pabulum! Fraser should buy a clue, eh? The couch potatoes that watch cBS could care less. Fact is, they're probably cheering the captain on. We're in a Catch-22 here and I fear the pabulum will continue to flow.

Still fun to watch though ;^)
