We sure don't need anymore water up here in the Susquehanna Valley (PA); we're just getting dried out from Ivan's 4" on Friday.

Darn, I am in Georgia...we already had a mess after Ivan. Kids were dismissed early last Thursday and off Friday.

Jeanne killed 600 or more in Haiti. The ghost of Ivan is headed for Texas. This is a crazy year for big storms.

Here in the northern panhandle of WV the kids are still out of schools, some roads just aren't there anymore and the schools are being used as shelters. We were fortunate, our house sits on a slight incline...our neighbors were devastated.

They also said that Jean was going out to sea after saying it would hit Florida. Of course they said that Ivan would hit the keys before it went the other way. They don't know yet

Just received this via email. If it's from David Letterman, please forgive. No source provided.
Top Ten Reasons Hurricane Season is Like Christmas...
10. Decorating the house (boarding up windows)
9. Dragging out boxes that haven't been used since last
season (camping gear, flashlights, etc.)
8. Last minute shopping in crowded stores
7. Regular TV shows pre-empted for "specials"
6. Family coming to stay with you
5. Family and friends from out-of-state calling
4. Buying food you don't normally buy ... and in large quantities
3. Days off from work
2. Candles
And the number one reason Hurricane Season is like Christmas....
1. At some point you know you're going to have a tree in your house.

Enigmas abound in Atlantic
12:02 P.M. ET Wed.,Sep.22,2004
Buzz Bernard, Senior Meteorologist, The Weather Channel
snip.......
Meanwhile, Hurricane Jeanne, several hundred miles east of the Bahamas, is becoming more worrisome. Jeanne is migrating toward the south now, but a large high pressure ridge building north of the storm may drive it west, back toward the southeast coast of the U. S. over the next several days. Come the weekend, residents from the Carolinas to northeast Florida may be glued their TV sets, watching The Weather Channel... again.

Good thing Jeanne's not in town yet. Cross-checking your supplies list, you're not fully prepared.
There's a new Dew in town...

Not trying to be funny here, merely pointing out the contrasting weather conditions...I was out in the field early this morning. Kicked the dirt, a mini-dust devil formed and blew away. No rain in a month. Sept. has been hotter than August! Very windy. Almost Arizona-like.
The Susq. River is notorious for flooding. Don't be afraid to head for high-ground if it starts to overflow it's banks!

Based on AccuBlunder's forecast for Jeanne last week Jeanne should be in the Gulf of Mexico already.
