British Animal-Rights 'Hit List' Targets Children -- Is America Next?

Kudos to Editors In Pajamas for this pull:
The London Sunday Times reports that a "secret hitlist" containing the names of more than 150 people is being quietly circulated among animal rights leaders in the United Kingdom. The five-page "cracker list" gives the addresses and phone numbers of targeted individuals, and directs activists to a website that outlines techniques for violent attacks. "Whatever you do," the document advises, "just do it and show them no mercy." Incredibly, the list includes the names of 21 children.
One person whose name appears on the list spoke to the Sunday Times on the condition of anonymity, saying:
I've had at least eight demonstrations outside my home, often involving up to 30 people. My car has been attacked twice with paint stripper being poured on the bonnet [hood], tires slashed and graffiti sprayed all over the bodywork. The windows have been smashed on the house and slogans sprayed on the walls. We've had letters mentioning the school my kids attend, letters sent to about 20 neighbors stating I am a convicted pedophile, three bomb hoaxes for which I have had to call the bomb squad, countless threatening phone calls and hundreds and hundreds of false credit applications.
At a recent training camp held near London, animal-rights militants were taught how to deliver fatal blows in hand-to-hand combat. And animal-rights leaders vowed to wage a British campaign of terror featuring at least 10 attacks every day. Because of threats like these, the famed Oxford University had to stop construction on a new biomedical research laboratory, and has applied to Britain's High Court for protection. "We have allowed a virus to establish itself," writes Daily Telegraph columnist W.F. Deedes. "We are talking about blackmail ... ministers had better get going against the animal rights thugs." UK Animal Liberation Front leader Robin Webb told the Scottish Sunday Herald last weekend that violent attacks are likely to escalate, and warned that children were fair game:
There are about 2,000 people prepared at any one time to take action for us ... The children [of targeted scientists and executives] are enjoying a lifestyle built on the blood and abuse of innocent animals. Why should they be allowed to close the door on that and sit down and watch TV and enjoy themselves when animals are suffering and dying because of the actions of the family breadwinner? They are a justifiable target for protest.
Americans would be wrong to assume this is just a British problem. As we told the Wall Street Journal last month, "the highest-profile cheerleader for Britain's animal-rights thugs is California physician Jerry Vlasak, a longtime spokesman for the Washington-based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), which the better-known People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) describes as a 'related' organization." At last year's "Animal Rights 2003" convention in Los Angeles, Vlasak -- described in the convention program as a representative of PCRM -- endorsed the murder of medical researchers whose search for cancer and AIDS cures requires the use of animals. "I don't think you'd have to kill -- assassinate -- too many," Vlasak said. "I think for five lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, two million, 10 million non-human lives."
Meanwhile, the U.S. component of the violent SHAC movement (which is supported by Vlasak) is currently facing a federal terrorism indictment, as are seven of its leaders. Yet that group is planning a high-profile gathering one month from now. Planned speakers include high-seas animal rights pirate Paul Watson and University of Texas El Paso professor (and terrorism apologist) Steven Best.

No, America will not be next. We still have firearms and some of us carry them.
An attempted direct violent attack on my person would result in a very dead animal rights activist.

Let's put some of the PETA lunatics in a cage with hungry tigers or in a tank with great white sharks who have gone a while without food. If these animals agree to respect the rights of the PETA types after a few days, then maybe we should listen.
Otherwise, just keep finding the PETA types and putting them into the cages and tanks until those tigers and sharks agree that human animals have rights. Afterwards we can discuss what rights other animals should have.

One minor problem; Americans shoot back, unlike the people of the UK who are restrained by idiotic limits on self defense. If PETA or any of its sister organizations commits murder, there are going to be a bunch of dead "activists."
Exactly why the Brits are tolerating this organization (Webb should be in the gaol - on trumped up charges if need be) is beyond me.

hmmm.....People in glass houses. It wouldn't be too hard to make a list of PETA members. Names, addresses, phone numbers. I would never do anything to hurt them, but if they ever targeted me or a member of my family, all bets are off. I suspect people who ended up on that list are going to be drawing up lists of their own soon.

hehe..exactly. Never could understood why animal rights activists think it is natural for a coyote to kill a chicken but a human isn't allowed to harm a fly? I guess humans have less rights than other animals? Traitors to the human species, all of them.
Processing the loons into shark 'chow' seems a fitting destiny for them.

It depends on the State laws; for example, in Michigan it's illegal but we do have a fairly decent concealed pistols law.

We don't have concealed carry in Kansas thanks to our idiot governor. The best I can hope for is a taser. Come to think of it I don't think I'll be much of a target because I don't do research and my biggest sin to these people is that I eat meat!

One blow can kill you or ruin you for life. That's something which has disturbed me about the Use Of Lethal Force laws... Look at the case of Professor Stuart Wang for instance.
Two men beat him, and destroyed his mind; he was a professor of mathematics and couldn't even add single digit integers afterward. But, since they weren't armed with lethal weapons themselves, using lethal force against them in self-defense would have been problematic.

I was once knocked out from behind after putting down one attacker. When unconscious, the "youths" stomped me badly.
Decades later and I have many problems to this day from the damage I sustained.
If attacked, stop the attack in any way possible and let a jury decide your fate if it comes to a trial.

Yes; it would be short, ugly and final. And after the very small amount of smoke cleared (and the ringing in witnesses ear's died away) the meat wagon would have to come to remove the former animal rights activist.
That is why we won't have this cr@p in America.

In most jurisdictions the standard for judging the level of force needed in a situation is that which is reasonable under the circumstances. Deadly force is only reasonable when needed to meet a threat of equal or greater proportion.
Multiple attackers can constitute a threat of deadly force.
Note to the wise: Along with your firearm and flashlight, know the home telephone number of a lawyer who will take your call at anytime day or night. It will save your a$$ when the stuff strikes the rotary air moving device.

I remember years ago listening to one of these wackos doing an interview on the radio. The host after hearing this wacko spew out this vomit, minute after minute, finally asked her the question, 'are you pro-abortion?'. This wacko said 'yes, a woman has a right to abort a baby'. The talk host immediately threw her off the air.

One reason that they can get away with this crap in Great Britain is that for the most part, it's illegal to protect your self or your property with force.
I recall a motorcycle magazine here in the US that documented areas in England where motorcycle thefts were rampant. A group of people who had had enough decided to strike back. They would park an unmarked van (filled with some angry former bike owners) near a nice motorcycle parked to attract thieves. When the thieves would show up, the guys in the van would make sure that the thieves learned a very painful lesson. As I recall, they used tire irons and clubs, and put a number of the thieves in the hospital for extended stays.
Of course, the police decided to spend more resources on trying to track down the vigilantes than the thieves.
Can you imagine people doing this sort of thing (the terrorist acts), anywhere but NY or CA? I can imagine people being shot for doing it.

Deadly force is only reasonable when needed to meet a threat of equal or greater proportion. Thank goodness I live in Texas. Here it's perfectly legal to use deadly force on people committing crimes after dark, or to prevent the commission of a felony, or to stop someone from fleeing the scene of a felony.
We can chase them down the street and blow 'em away. Which is as it should be.

I have never encountered any articles specifically about this angle of the problem but it is painfully obvious that in Britain they must have unofficial approval for their acts. I gather they get deliberate kid glove treatment from the police there.
I have heard interview snippets from Denver and San Francisco police chiefs making excuses as to why the animal liberation types are untouchable or can't be charged with anything more serious than vandalism, etc. If PETA types were the subject of the same kind of concentrated, multi-jurisdictional effort that Islamists get over here they would soon have a recruitment problem.

Yes, it seems like the law enforcement officials are pretty much intimidiated, by them. For why? I have no clue.
If they destroy property, they need to be made to pay for it. If they take a life they need to pay that debt to.
But when they make announcements to that affect, seems to me they are guilty of sedition, or something!
