State Rep. Phyllis Kahn pleaded guilty to theft on Thursday for stealing campaign literature. Hennepin County District Judge Stephen Aldrich ordered Kahn, DFL-Minneapolis, to pay $200 in prosecution costs but agreed to defer any additional sentence for a year and dismiss the misdemeanor charge then if she has no similar violations. Kahn did not appear in court on Thursday, but pleaded guilty through her attorney. "Obviously I did something wrong," she said. "It certainly was an appropriate sentence. I was sorry I did it right after I did it, and I'm still sorry." Kahn, a 32-year legislative veteran, had already apologized to Republican House member Lynne Osterman for taking her campaign brochures from some New Hope doorsteps in July. Kahn replaced them with DFL literature.

This gal is Left of Kerry!
This is just standard Democratic procedure. That's why Bush supporters have to put bumper stickers on the inside of their car windows, and replace yard signs on a daily basis.
Hey, I was volunteering at the Bush/Cheney Hdqtrs. yesterday and they said *** 30 % *** of the Bush Lawn Signs are STOLEN !!!
KAHHHNNN!
Nice pic - She looks worse...
Sorry don't feed the bulldog!
I am so sick of anyone who does anything that violates election law, or does something to try to illegally influence an election. They're committing a crime at the heart of our political system! Heck, right now (and since the 2000 election) the dems are doing everything they can to weaken the public trust in our elections!
I think that the proper sentance for someone convicted of something like this is :
a) Restitution: They should have to pay for the cost of reprinting the signs or flyers.
b) They should have to either personally apologize to any property owner from whom they removed the sign, and replace it with a new one that they paid for, or in the case of flyers, they should have to hand out the flyers in public, with a sign explaining why they're there.
Frankly, I believe that in the case of voter fraud, there should be capital punnishment, and I'm not kidding. That's how serious I feel it is.

... and that's a GOOD Picture !
Them Demmycrats 'en their documents, eh?! Always in trouble.
Agreed. If we truly believe in the importance of our elections and the republic, then the punishment should be as serious. The outcome of elections determines the direction of peoples' lives, and in some cases can lead to lives being lost (e.g., medical research decisions, abortion, etc.) It's a crime against every citizen.
I agree. You NEVER mess with the ability for American People to receive information about candidates!
A story of a democrat guilty of a crime? Nothing important there. This is a dog bites man story.
That picture makes me think of "Pat" from the old SNL skits.
Says it all
Says it all
Oh...my...God. Pat from SNL - right on!
Proper sentencing would have been to make her personally redeliver the brochures she stole.
But, but...they're the party of tolerance.
A separated at birth !
