"The invasion of Iraq was a profound diversion from the battle against our greatest enemy, al Qaeda." --John Kerry (Sept. 24-04)
They connected the dots in 1998 but Senator Kerry and MSM can't seem to connect the dots in 2004.

So, the Free Republic PJ Brigade has come to the rescue. Here is an easy to read chart, citing plenty of evidence of the links between Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein; links between Iraq and al Qaeda.
This chart will be archived at my web site: http://www.archive-news.net/Articles/SH040923.html. I will be making the additions there, so you might want to bookmark the site.
I thought you were talking about the Pitchforkers for a minute. Wondered where is the connection with PJB???
Beautiful chart! Thank you so much for all your work.
I have saved a thread that has hundreds of articles references on this matter and will link it here.
Kerry said on 9/21 during a campaign speech that we now know there were no connections between Al Qaeda and Iraq.
He must not have read the Senate Intelligence Committee Report or the 9/11 Commission Report, both of which cited the many connections between Iraq and AQ.
A high ranking Iraqi fedayeen soldier attended at least one pre planning 9/11 meeting with AQ.
Saddam knew 9/11 was coming and where we were going to be hit.
Even the Clinton Justice Department was able to obtain an indictment against OBL which cited the terrorist's ties to Iraq.
A federal judge has granted two 9/11 families a multi-million dollar judgement - against Iraq.
During the 90's, the mainstream press wrote about the world's alarm at the growing relationship between Saddam and Osama bin Laden. Old Media thinks we can't look these things up.

Great research and easy format to read, btw.

Any of you archivists wish to embellish upon or check this list?
Great work! Can I copy this to some groups of mine?
It has, however, become a maze.
I've gone through many of the threads and put the articles into a chart with links to the sources and extracts from the articles.
I will add new entries as I find them. I am primarily interested in news articles that predate September 11, 2001 and have LIVE links on the Internet. Many links from the other posts are dead or restricted.
FReepers, if you see articles that I'm missing, please let me know.
This chart will also be linked to John F. Kerry Timeline.
It is a maze and I appreciate your beautifully produced effort to put everything in a timeline, complete with links and snapshots of the articles.
That is a great deal of work and I look forward to reading your web site regarding this matter.
Hmmmmmmmmmm.
Very interesting!
By all means. FreeRepublic needs to do the work that mainstream media refuses to do.
Send this thread, or send a link to the website, which will be updated: http://www.archive-news.net/Articles/SH040923.html.
Those February 1999 articles are stunning! I had never seen them before.
There is a lot to add to this chart, but even now, it shows conclusively that the government and media thought there was a link between Iraq and al Qaeda before September 11, 2001. It wasn't until the liberals wanted an excuse to run from a war with Iraq that they developed amnesia.
Again, thanks for your work.
bump
I should have pinged you because I added this chart to my thread on this matter.
This is really awesome work; so often I wished I knew how to organize the list of articles better but aside from thinking about a timeline sort of organization, didn't have any idea how to do what you have done.
It is my firm belief that if more people fully understood the threat that Iraq posed and their support and training of Al Qaeda, more people would support the president and the war and our troops.
Senator Kerry:
"Mr. President, we have every reason to believe that Saddam Hussein will continue to do everything in his power to further develop weapons of mass destruction and the ability to deliver those weapons, and that he will use those weapons without concern or pangs of conscience if ever and whenever his own calculations persuade him it is in his interests to do so. . . . I have spoken before this chamber on several occasions to state my belief that the United States must take every feasible step to lead the world to remove this unacceptable threat. He must be deprived of the ability to injure his own citizens without regard to internationally-recognized standards of behavior and law. He must be deprived of his ability to invade neighboring nations. He must be deprived of his ability to visit destruction on other nations in the Middle East region or beyond. If he does not live up fully to the new commitments that U.N. Secretary-General Annan recently obtained in order to end the weapons inspection standoff - and I will say clearly that I cannot conceive that he will not violate those commitments at some point - we must act decisively to end the threats that Saddam Hussein poses." [Congressional Record, 3/13/98.]
Thanks for such a great resource!
Several of us FREEPERs have been citing those articles for a while and getting the list out to everyone we know and have contact with is imperative. The list I had put together was done by each year. I have made that list into a HTML file and attach it to emails and send it out to people I know. This is part of a little thing that I do called my "Email Jihad" (here's a link to the original thread where I announced my effort).
If you want a copy of the HTML file I did...
1. Right-click here
2. Select "Save Target As" (or "Save Link As", depending on your browser)
3. Save it to your hard drive
4. Attach it to an email
5. Send to everyone you know
I agree totally! ATTA-GIRL!
-Thanks-
