At 72, RATHER has lost none of the hard-charging, go-anywhere, do-anything determination to get the story that marked his rise to the top of the network news hierarchy. But now that drive has taken him to the abyss. (Wasn't it Dallas, Texas TV Reporter DAN RATHER that told the world the JFK had officially been declared dead, before JFK had been?)
"It wouldn't surprise him," SHAW says "if RATHER is a liberal, but he says after a dozen or so interviews with RATHER over the years, the veteran news anchor has never hinted at having an ideological bias." (Say WHAT?)
"Will RATHER be forced out of his CBS News anchor chair?" SHAW goes on to ask.
NEWSMAX.com's CARL LIMBACHER adds that while SHAW is not seeking RATHER's ouster, many journalists believe that if precedent and reputation mean anything to CBS, the decision is clear.

I will NEVER FORGET personally telling DAVID SHAW, after my return from the 1st Major Battles of the Vietnam War, about the Anti-U.S. Mis-reporting of the Vietnam War by CBS News Reporters WALTER CRONKITE, DAN RATHER and MORLEY SAFER. A young DAVID SHAW was a Liberal supporting the Anti-War stance of then Presidential Candidate ROBERT F. KENNEDY and I of course argued against him with the CLARITY of Freedom's side.
DAN RATHER subverted our Fight for the Freedom of others in Vietnam long ago and is now subverting the Fight for our own here at home.

DAVID SHAW has been one of the most respected Media Critics in the country for Decades, working at the Los Angeles Times, renowned as an unbiased Conscience of the Press. But he has been secretly Liberal biased all along.
Covering up for the Liberal lies of people like DAN RATHER and WALTER CRONKITE has been SHAW's lifetime M.O. I know, for I was the first to tell him about RATHER and CRONKITE's Vietnam War Misreporting when we met after my return from the 1st Major Battles of the Vietnam War in 1966.
And then there was the CLINTON Impeachment when a confused Public was first fed the "It's just about SeX" propaganda line from...
...DAVID SHAW in a Commentary/Opinion Article of the Los Angeles Times.
When JOHN KERRY's Vietnam TV Lies came along in 1971, Media Critic DAVID SHAW should have been all over him like a knife thru butter ..for I had already filled DAVE in on the true Heroics of American Soldiers fighting for the Freedom of others in Vietnam, despite the misreporting of CBS. SHAW wasn't there for us then because he probably agreed with KERRY.
While SHAW still had his Media Vechicle to vent his Liberal Agenda with long ago, I did not yet have an Internet to battle his Liberal Agenda with. I do now.
During the 2004 Presidential Campaign DAVE SHAW covered for a Network TV News Anchor, DAN RATHER, who had just attempted to bring down a sitting Commander-in-Chief in Time of War ..with forged Military documents. Again a true Media Critic, like DAVID SHAW should be, would have been all over this case, but he opted to cover for his fellow Liberal RATHER instead by saying DAN had no motive to attack the President, when he has all along.

...please know that during the turbulent 1960's DAVID SHAW and I remained good friends, though we were forced to argue way too much perhaps about the Vietnam War and the effects of CBS News' mis-reporting of it. Each of us trying to convert the other to their point of view to no avail.
...In the end those arguments got to be too draining for us both and we had to finally say our Goodbye's to one another. I do consider this but one more personal casualty of CBS News' misreporting the Vietnam War to the American People. For I found DAVID SHAW to be a very engaging and charitable person and an otherwise good friend.
...But DAVE was informed early on by me in 1966 about my firsthand experiecne with a LIBERAL Media's Political Agenda to do all that it could to defeat Freedom for Vietam ...and they went on to defeat that Freedom.

i read david shaw's "media critic" articles for years,
and shaw's articles suck!
I've heard reported that many former NVA and VC say that they were tricked. They were told that the suppression of freedom was necessary during the fight with the Americans, but once the Americans were driven out, the government would allow the people to have the same kind of freedom enjoyed in the south.

I've had former North Vietnamese Army members tell me here in America that HO CHI MINH had lied to them during the Vietnam War when he told them to fght on because things would be so much better for all of Vietnam when once unified under Communism.
They then told me that everything got much worse in both the North and the South of Vietnam after the Fall of Saigon to Communist North Vietnamese invaders.
So much so that even they found themselves forced to flee that enslaved country right along side those they had conquered.
As they yelled out:
