2) Shove a pork sausage in the other end.

You are too kind ... I'd pick a pipe in the other end, and then pour moulten lead down the pipe.

Zawahiri was involved in the assasination of Anwar Sadat, and he is Egyptian. Zaraqwi isn't even his real name - he named himself after the region he's from - somewhere in Jordan - Zarqai or something like that.

There have been many stories of this type from the Middle East. They just get our hopes up. I'm just pointing out that it's a waste of space and a waste of breath. If you disagree, go ahead and post. But I'm not going to "buzz off" just because we disagree on whether this is a worthwhile story or not.

The Paks can flip any of these guys anytime that they want. They're nabbing them as it becomes important to them for their own strategic purposes.

Not putting them down, because it's what most nations with permanent interests would do in their place, too.

You wrote: "Zawahiri, not Zarqawi.
Glad you asked. I have noted that these names are used interchangeably to refer to the same person.

Can someone with an understanding of Arabic clue us in on the different spellings/pronunciations? Thanks in advance."

These are two different men. Zawahiri is a doctor and a long associate of OBL. He is Egyptian and was part of the plot against Saddat.

Zarqawi is Jordanian/Palestinian and not exactly part of AL Qaeda.

MSNBC clearly made a mistake - however, they had an awesome link to the 911 disaster there - check it out here:

"The Paks can flip any of these guys anytime that they

I disagree - Musharef's life has been threatened and many attempts have been made by Zawahiri - to kill him. There's no way he would let him hang out there like that. He wants him captured and gotten rid of just as bad if not more than we do. His life depends on it.

It is not that easy at all to nab many of these guys within Pakistan - Don't kid yourself -

And don't believe the press - Our shooters are in on these big catches - It isn't Pak forces tracking and taking these guys down on their own - But you will never hear that officially -

I'm not disagreeing with either of you guys. My past experience over in that part of the world is that the Paks have a very effective, if brutal, intelligence service that has co-opted many a radical group or sympathetic tribe.

I think that Musharraf plays his own games, probably for the benefit of what he can gain out of the Kashmir region and his belief that we can bring some small amount of pressure to bear on India over it.

It was almost immediately after 9/11 that India eagerly sought to align itself with us in our struggle against terror, probably due its own history with the Tamil Tigers.

Man.....I've given myself a headache trying to imagine all the permutations :-)

What they should do with these animals is a single shot to the gut. The when they finally die, put them in a hole filled with hog innards and their feet pointing toward Mecca.

Excerpt from "Death In The Ia Drang Valley" by the late Jack P. Smith.

"I don't know why, but when a man is hit in the belly, he screams an unearthly scream. Something you cannot imagine; you actually have to hear it. When a man is hit in the chest or the belly, he keeps on screaming, sometimes until he dies. I just lay there, numb, listening to the bullets whining over me and the 15 or 20 men close to me screaming and screaming and screaming. They didn't ever stop for breath. They kept on until they were hoarse, then they would bleed through their mouths and pass out. They would wake up and start screaming again. Then they would die."

Of course this is what we should be doing to all these animals we capture in the Middle East.

In the Philippines annals of the 1911 local hisotry, during the US occupation of the Philippines in 1911, the colonel in charge of the small, but remote island of Palawan, was having a terrible time with islamic jihadists who outgunned and outmanned the US battalion. But the US colonel realised that knowing the enemy, their religious weaknesses would entail that half the battle would be won.

He discovered the muslims fear of DOGS SALIVA and PIGS. So he ordered his men to round up as many dogs as they could and walked the dogs through the houses of the muslims who were harbouring the terrorists. These searches terrified the local muslims and the muslim leaders immediately cooperated with the Americans, voluntarily handed over the terrorists they harboured, and voluntarily hunted for other Islamic terrorists (dead or alive). The insurrection was successfully quelled.

General John L. Hansen Jr. who was in charge of the larger southern Philippine island of Mindanao was amused by the Palawan episode. Mindanao was overwhelmed with Islamic Jihad too, creating destruction, murder, rape, looting, bombings, kidnappings, beheading , etc. The General was losing too many men with no sign of improvement. So when they captured 8 Islamic terrorists, 7 of them were to be executed and the 8th sentenced to 19 years imprisonment.

General Hansen had the 7 Islamic terrorists dig their own graves. The 8th was handcuffed and made to watch the execution process. Then the 7 terrorists were tied to posts but without blindfold . Then the American soldiers slaughtered a live Pig in front of them. The Pig was cut into 7 portions and placed in each grave. On witnessing this the 7 terrorists became terrified , shouting and screaming to their allah to save them. Their clothes and body were smeared with the pig's blood and fat. Then they were shot and their bodies were placed in each grave together with the chunk of pig. The 8th prisoner was ordered to fill up the graves and was set free. This 8th prisoner fled for his life and news of the American system of execution spread like wildfire. The Islamic Jihad vanished almost instantaneously.

I understand what you are saying and definitely some truth to it as well -

If you google for Ayman al-Zawahiri and Ayman al-Zarqawi, you will find that they are referred to as the same person.

I understand now, thanks to several freeper posts, that they are two different people, but the media led us astray (gasp!) on this, I believe.

Fair enough.
The truth is, I would not have posted had I known it had been done earlier. I searched twice for title "Osama" and got no hit, so I posted. But look at the number of replies, even though it had been posted at least once before...

I think that Zarqawi's given name is Musab. Zawahiri's is Ayman. The "al" (or "ibn" or "bin") are all Arab ways of identifying a patronymic or lineal descendency.

I checked it out and thanks. But I didn't understand your reference to "the 911 disaster there." The article I found at your link was "Terror strikes blamed on al-Zarqawi in Iraq." Did I miss something? Please clarify, and thanks again.

This same story has been told before, only with General BlackJack Pershing as the hero. Yours sounds more legit. What is your source.

For what it's worth the Paks have denied this and said that there is absolutely no truth to it. This was posted on a thread on Breaking at 1:20 EDT today.

My favorite doctor since Mengele!

I hope that they did capture him, and begin a slow torture to extract any information he has...

I hope that there's a special place for him reserved in hell!
