Pray for President Bush

Heavenly Father,

There are no words more joyous and more liberating than "You are my God." While we were yet sinners, You cared enough to send Your Son to walk this earth to show us how to live according to Your will; and then He willingly went to the Cross of Calvary to buy our salvation through His blood. Oh, Lord, such love is incomprehensible! We can only offer our humble gratitude and praise Your name. All praise and glory to You, the Lord God Almighty!

The words of the Psalmist, written so long ago, seem to describe our President today. He is attacked with lies and distortions; he is leading the world in fighting terror; his very life is endangered daily; and yet he continues to call Your name and speak of Your love and grace. Honor his faithfulness, O Lord, with wisdom, patience, persistence, courage, strength, comfort, and peace. Speak to him constantly that he may continue to hear Your voice and follow Your commandments. Watch over Laura and the twins; and let their family grow in faith and trust each day. Keep them safe from all harm.

Father, many in our nation have suffered greatly from the recent hurricanes and floods. As they face the devastation surrounding them, let them feel Your love and Your peace and the hope that comes only from You. Continue to bring comfort to the families who have suffered at the hands of the terrorists.

Our military remain in harm's way in lands far away, fighting an enemy who lurks in darkness. Be their Shield and their Defender and keep their families nestled under the shadow of Your wings.

Father, we are constantly appalled at the bitterness and invective of this campaign; the willingness of some to deceive and lie to gain political advantage. We cry out to You that Your will be done! We plead with You to shine Your light on our nation and reveal truth. We entreat You to revive our nation's soul, restoring in America a reverence for life; a desire for morality; and obedience to You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Let the people praise Thee, O God; let all the people praise Thee. - Psalms 67:3

Father, Spurgeon wrote those annotations 100 years ago. He referred to the ordeal David, certainly David had his own experiences in mind. The verse may also be prophetic to the ministry of our Lord. Yet, Father, how applicable this verse is to our President. He is reviled throughout this country and around the world for doing those things which are right and true. He is slandered during newscasts, in books, through speeches, during ungodly demonstrations, in universities, and in daily conversations. President Bush is hatefully maligned by the impious millions in this country and throughout the world. His life would be crushed if it were not for You.

Thank you, Father, for granting him prosperity. Please grant him rousing success as he enters the arena of political debate. Grant him, and those who uphold the"Judeo-Christian ethic" in public policy matters a great triumph this November.

Our most gracious and kind Heavenly Father, Lord how we thank you for the blessings of this day. Dear Father, we thank you for President Bush who lives your word. He knows you are his Lord and Savior and he is not ashamed of the Gospel of God.

Dear Father, we continue to pray for the military men and women who are fighting our war for peace. We acknowledge they are making great sacrifices for us, and we pray they will stay safe and out of harms way. We especially pray for their families who are surely missing them. Dear Father, just let them know how much we love them also.

We also pray for all of the people who were left homeless during the hurricanes. We pray for their safety and that they will be able to restore their lives soon.

We ask these blessings in Your Son's Precious Name, Amen.

Lord, please shed Your mercies on the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan. Protect and bless our troops. Give aid to the people ravaged by this storm season.

Be with the president as he seeks to do what is right. Give him the words fitly spoken to clarify the current political situation. Strengthen the hearts of those who sag under the weight of our difficulties.

We pray for life for our enemies, but ask that You cause those who insist on trusting in lies and the deceptive power of their velvet tongues lose their cause. And let their defeat be a purging for our nation, that we would get beyond the current stalemate, too long running.

I ask for grace and truth to cut through the racial demagoguery the Democrats are using in Florida and around the nation. It is dispicable that they are raising unfounded fears of disenfranchisement in order to get out their vote. In doing so, they sow seeds of deep civil disharmony. They are poor stewards of the national interest. My prayer is that the people will see through the charade and repudiate them. The Black people in particular are in need of a second liberation, Lord, this one political. And the basis of the liberation will be, as it always is, the promulgation of truth.

We ask that you do this. And forgive us of any racial sins we might harbor. Let their be harmony among the various groups with good will.

Help Your persecuted throughout the earth. Show Your might hand of power to those who wait on You. Comfort the hurting. Be manifest in our midst, to heal and to save. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

We humbly pray for our President Bush...Bestow upon him Integrity, Courage and Patience as he seeks to inform the nation of his plans for the future. It may be that some will not agree, but we petition the Holy Spirit to open eyes and ears that the citizens cast their votes in a responsible way. To say that one hates either,or a candidate is the evil one's playground. Hate, be set aside for its results are disastrous..Jesus, forgive our transgressions for it is truly You we seek, this fleeting power some are given are but detours on our life's journey.
