Kerry Concedes Missouri to Bush Is it too late for the Democrats to replace dusty old John Kerry with dusty old Dick Gephardt? The "experts" said Missouri would be even more crucial than usual this year, but Sen. Kerry has already abandoned it.
"There's something missing in Missouri: presidential campaign ads," the Associated Press reported today. "The road to the White House normally runs through Missouri, a state that has sided with the winner since Dwight Eisenhower won re-election in 1956. George W. Bush won the state by 4 percentage points in 2000."
Before Labor Day, Kerry blew $5.8 million in the Show Me State, Democratic National Committee blew $1.7 million, and who knows how much Kerry's Bush-hating 527 groups squandered. But with Bush leading in polls, Kerry has given up, and Bush has also now focused his resources elsewhere.
Some Democrats are mad and think Kerry is pulling the same mistake Al Gore did four years ago in Ohio, which he abandoned but then turned out to be closer than expected.
Then again, try to picture the Massachusetts Democrat courting voters at a pig pickin' in the Ozarks.
AP noted: "Missouri has been growing more Republican with each election cycle. Four years ago, Bush won a majority of independent voters and took advantage of the state's anti-tax sentiments. Nearly half of the state's voters identify themselves as 'born again' or evangelical Christian."
P.S.: Wire services reported earlier this week that Kerry has also given up on Tennessee.

Onward Ohio, Florida!
Missouri vote for Stevenson in 1952? Interesting.
Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!
Kerry isn't running ads but the Media Fund is on a daily basis... George Soros at work....
Good strategy. Why waste money in a place where you won't win? Soon, Kerry will be able to concentrate 100% of his funds where it can lead to victory: Washington DC.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!
Yep, the under-the-counter advertising will continue -- but it will be fun to add up what the liberal Dems spent on this campaign, only to end up in the dirt (their normal environment).
And Teddy Kennedy, as mentioned above, can only manage a booze bottle nowadays, amongst his anti-America, extreme leftist rantings. In a way, he is a good sign of things to come for the liberal Dems -- now slipping into the tar pits of history. Just keep raving Teddy --
Good, one down, 49 more to go.
Way to go, Missouri!
Fat Teddy can campaign with Hanoi Jane for Kerry in Missouri. They make a lovely couple.

While in Arizona Tereza (let them go naked) Kerry says to a reporter when asked about it "so what, it's only 1 state in a state."
She's brilliant isn't she?
My thanks to BulletBobCo for the concept of this
pic and to Conspiracy Guy for the captions!
There's one thing to be said for living in a deep, deep bordering on navy, blue state: no political adds.
Kerry is so f'n clueless he'll probably ask for Gore's help in Tennessee.
He stopped in Louisiana too.
The article stated that Missouri has supported the winner in every election since 1956, so I assumed this meant that they supported Adlai in '52.
Front Page : St.Louis Post: " Decisive win for Kerry in city could help him carry Missouri ".
The libs are still thinking they can win Missouri with a big turnout in the city of St.Louis ( and the north county area ) . Which usually goes along with big time voter fraud!! I would imagine Kansas City is another major target.
These voter registration groups are targeting African-Americans and Catholics very hard. In the past week, I know Kerry/Edwards signs have popped up everywhere ! I live in a heavily Catholic area, with a good percentage of African-Americans as well ( seniors citizens are pretty heavy too). These get out the vote groups are everywhere !!
Luckily, this state as trended more Republican over the past decade. But I tell you these lib groups are not giving up on Missouri. Kerry may have pulled his people and resources out, but the 527 groups are still going strong.
It is key that the Conservative areas of the state come out bigtime this election !! Don`t think it is over yet. There is still much work to do.
Louisiana is Bush country. Period.
I read it that way too. Didn't sound right so I checked. Ike won Missouri in '52.
Bull crap!
The democrats are about to pull another of their shenanigans.
Never trust a democrat.
Ike won MO in 1952 and Stevenson won it in 1956.
Louisiana is Bush country. Period.
Ike won MO in 1952 and Stevenson won it in 1956.
Well it's a good day for someone from Missouri now living in Colorado .... Kerry pulled ads from Colorado also.

I saw a picture of Ted with Kerry on another thread. Ted literally looked like the fat, diseased Harkonan (sp$) patriarch that floated around.
Anybody know who I am talking about?
$=? sorry
Erik I'm in Springfield. 7th Congressional district represented by Roy Blunt. Come on down to God's Country brother!!!!
And MO has been with the winner in every election BEFORE, too -- going back well over 100 years. In 1956, MO just had a collective brain fart.
"Irish" Kerry has also pulled his ads from Arizona, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, and, I believe, North Carolina. Candidates rely on "internals" and Kerry's internals must be darn poor. I am wondering when he'll pull out of Ohio.

This could be a sign of good news.
Which is fascinating given that the Rocky Mountain Compost showed Kerry ahead exactly one week ago (albeit the polling closed the day before Rathergate broke wide open). Kerry's internal polling must look like crap to be taking these states out of play.
Something, actually two things, still doesn't make sense to me:
With that kind of self-sabotage, who needs the Clintons? It's almost as if Lurch doesn't want to win...
Harry Truman's home State. Very democrat before twenty years ago, like the rest of the South. Hmmm, who was president twenty years ago?
Dune?
"Louisiana is Bush country. Period."
Amen sister or brother........whoever you may be.
The article doesn't make any sense. "Missouri has gone with the winnner every time since 1956" would mean Missouri went with the winner in 1956, wouldn't it?
In other words, since Missouri went with the loser in 1956, one can only say "Missouri has gone with the winner ever time since 1960" which is the first time in the current streak that they went with the winner.
What am I missing?
Yes, and specifically, the first movie with Sting as his nephew.
Yes, Baron Harkonnen as he appeared in the 1984 movie (he was a little less brutish in the 2000 remake), and also in the original novel, where he was a 400+ pound pedophile.
Anyway, I am the webmaster behind http://xenohistorian.faithweb.com , the site with the maps of the 1952 and 1956 elections that you've been commenting on. A friend at Delphiforums.com tipped me off to the link, so I have just signed up for FreeRepublic now. Still learning my way around here, didn't know about all of you until I heard about your part in discovering the forgeries in the "Rathergate" affair, and was delighted at the news.
