NEW YORK SLIMES = DOMESTIC TERRORISTS!
To: kattracks
The New York Times needs to cover this story -- big time:
September 29, 2004 -- The Justice Department has charged that a veteran New York Times foreign correspondent warned an alleged terror-funding Islamic charity that the FBI was about to raid its office potentially endangering the lives of federal agents.

September 29, 2004 -- The Justice Department has charged that a veteran New York Times foreign correspondent warned an alleged terror-funding Islamic charity that the FBI was about to raid its office potentially endangering the lives of federal agents. The stunning accusation was disclosed yesterday in legal papers related to a lawsuit the Times filed in Manhattan federal court.I am pinging all who posted to this thread yesterday to this article about what the DOJ is alleging.

"It has been conclusively established that Global Relief Foundation learned of the search from reporter Philip Shenon of The New York Times," Fitzgerald said in an Aug. 7, 2002, letter to the Times' legal department.PING

"U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald of Chicago charged in court papers that Shenon blew the cover on the Dec. 14, 2001, raid of the Global Relief Foundation"
Isn't Fitzgerald the one handling the Plame investigation? Is this an outgrowth of that?

It's all getting to be too much.
Another investigation that will go nowhere.

Yikes :-(
No surprise, really, but plenty of disgust... I hope they nail him to the wall.
I'm going to mail this out to some of the more balanced media contacts but I don't think we can count on NYT competitors like the Washington Post and WSJ doing in-depth investigation and calling much attention to this... my guess is they'll want the Justice Dept to lose this fight when it comes to revealing sources. Maybe Hannity and O'Reilly would cover it.

I'd like to know just how Shenon and possibly Miller found out about the anticipated FBI raid. Who tipped them off?

I sure hope the penalty for such treacherous and (obviously traitorous) actions is severe.

The First Amendment does NOT protect traitors. If this reporter did tip off the terrorists, the reporter needs to do time. Serious time.

The suit seeks to block subpoenas from the Justice Department for phone records of two of its Middle Eastern reporters Philip Shenon and Judith Miller as part of a probe to track down the leak. A reputable paper would cooperate with the authorities fully and would want to see justice served. But no, the Times is doing everything they can to slow-roll the investigation and get its people off on technicalities. The NY Times has a big guilty sign around its neck, just like the reporters do.
In light of their efforts to cloud the issue and subvert the United States, I say we Freep these sons-of-bitches like they can't believe.
