TRAPPE, Md. - John Eisenhower, son of Republican President Eisenhower, said in a newspaper column this week that he will vote for Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) for president on Nov. 2. In a rare public announcement, Eisenhower said he switched his party affiliation from Republican to independent after 50 years after losing confidence in his former party. He said Kerry has demonstrated courage, competence and a concern for tackling the "widening socio-economic gap in this country."

The 4th generation of Richard Nixon's dog "Checker" today said in an interview that he was tired of watching his party be taken over by Neo-Cons. Therefore he is switching his vote to Kerry. When asked by Fox news that Kerry's French poodle "Fifi" and he were seen together in a Cambridge back alley after meeting online at votergasmfordogs.org he stated he had no further comment.

Now more than ever, we voters will have to make cool judgments, unencumbered by habits of the past."

So I, Dwight Eisenhower's son will now turn around and urge you to vote a vote clearly encumbered by habits mired in an an isolationist, appeasement minded past. America must retreat from the world. We must hide! We cannot fight the evil doers. We must hide from them in Fortress America! RUN! HIDE!

Truly a sad, debased son of a proud noble father. How his father's spirit must be weeping at this.

I do agree with the correlation, or lack thereof, between father's and sons, such as Ike and his Kerry-lovin' son and Regan and his tough-guy son, Ron "Jr".

-the tough guy part was a joke

The fool of the Eisenhower family outs himself.
Until now he could only be suspected of being a fool. He opened his mouth and removed all doubt.

Senility didn't set in at such an early age with his father.

Kerry has demonstrated courage, competence and a concern for tackling the "widening socio-economic gap in this country."

The man must be an elitist like Kerry and also lacking in the brains department to honestly believe the senator is courageous and competent.

Since nobody gives a rat's behind about John Eisenhower he may as well say something that makes him sound importaint and gets him invited to a cocktail party or two. Personally I don't think the man could find his own A$$ with both hands and a flashlight

No.......Ike was more or less apolitical. Both the Dems and the GOP wanted him to be their presidential candidate, but Ike went GOP.He certainly wasn't a Conservative, but neither was he a RINO. Don't use the term RINO,when what you really are trying to say,is that someone wasn't/isn't a Conservative.

You state that he wasn't a conservative, if not a conservative then what?

He stole the election from a true conservative Taft with a write in campaign in NH.

Hanoi Jane at least was a Viet Cong!
Just like me!

Hanoi Jane and I know how to demoralize US Troops serving today!

We hate US Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

We hate all US Troops!

We lie about them in 2004 the same as we did in the 60's and 70's!

We vow to insult and undermine Iraq Prime Minister Ayad Allawi

We vow to protect the UN and the Oil for Food Scandal

We vow to keep secret the ties between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaida

We vow to free Saddam Hussein with help from our old friend Ramsey Clark.

This guy is so irrelevant that I've decided to practice my HTML skills while writing this meaningless post. Why do the more level headed children of politicians get ignored while numbnutz like this guy are watched like a canary in a mineshaft?

Poor sad man... He has sipped the Kool Aid.. He has forgotten 9/11, He has been hypnotized by Michael Moore and he has done a huge injustice to his father. Why have so many forgotten, so soon... We failed on 9/11 to imagine the threat that befell us. Were we just supposed to fail again and do nothing in response to Sadaam Hussein's gathering threat? That would be like declaring war on Japan for bombing Pearl Harbor but allowing Hitler to continue his rampage thru Europe... Knowing what we know now that Sadaam and his sons were getting rich and passing funds on to terroists and supporting the causes of evil and doing this with blood money obtained from the oil for food program, even as the Iraqi people starved and the UN continued to be led by Sadaam, were we supposed to do nothing? For more than Forty years we have been trying to bring Peace to the Middle East, diplomacy has failed. The President has put us on a meaningful path... He has called it Liberty's Century, his doctrine will bring peace and Freedom and Liberty to parts of the world that were brewing with hatred for us. Those hungry souls will finally taste democracy and only then will we be free from the threat of terror. The President has weighed the costs and many future bloody battles will have been averted because of the good work that we do today... I think Ike would be proud or our President because he knew Freedom comes with a huge price but we gladly pay that price and always have paid that price because we know there is a greater cause. Let Beslan Russia stand as a cruel reminder of exactly what is at stake, we cannot waiver, we must not fail, we must bear any burden and pay any price, the very core of our Constitution guarantees Liberty and Freedom for our Children... and it is up to us, We the People must ensure that our government upholds and is accountable to our Constitution.
