"We're bringing a screwdriver" (Kerry Campaign threatens to sabotage debates)
WRKO radio - Boston | 9/30/04

Posted on 09/30/2004 11:16:08 AM PDT by pabianice

Heard on the hour's news:

The Kerry Campaign is now insisting that the warning lights mounted at each candidate's podium be disconnected before tonight's debate. All had previously agreed that there would be 15 second warning lights mounted at each podium to let everyone know that the speaker's time was ending. Kerry Campaign is now panicing at the thought that Mr. Debater will not have enough time for each answer he wishes to give, and are demanding that the lights be removed.

The debate organizers, to their credit, are refusing, since both campaigns agreed to have the lights. To this, a Kerry spokesman replied, "We're bringing our own screwdriver and we'll disconnect the light ourselves if we have to."

THIS is the true spirit of Campaign Kerry: 'WE get to make the rules and WE get to change them when we feel like it.' Just whom we need running the country.

"We're bringing our own screwdriver and we'll disconnect the light ourselves if we have to."

What they're bringing is their own Screw-up candidate who's totally disconnected from the American people. His supporters have no chance of unscrewing him.

"Good evening America, I'm Jim Leher of PBS News. Tonight we bring you the first of 3 debates between President George W Bush and challenger Sen. John F Kerry. Prior to the debate both candidates agreed to a 'warning light' to indicate when their time was running out and expired. Sen. Kerry, being a long winded gas bag has renegged on the agreement and his time has disabled his warning light."

Not that this would ever be said.

To this, a Kerry spokesman replied, "We're bringing our own screwdriver and we'll disconnect the light ourselves if we have to."

They should have no problem finding a screwdriver in a campaign that wants to screw this country.

Interesting. Rush Limbaugh said today that Kerry will probably try to break the rules somehow for a "dramatic moment."

It will be fun to watch it backfire, if he tries.

I think is the first indication of what is already rumored, and that being that Kerry will circumvent the rules and speak beyond his available time. He will be able to do this without making it obvious if the lights are not there.

I bet they have some judge force the removal the lights or postpone the debate. They would love to postpone the debate because every time Kerry opens his he losses votes.

Maybe when they bring the screwdrivers to the debates, they can also bring along all the 'W' keys from the keyboards that "disappeared" after Clinton left office. The Dems are so destructive.

Since they knew they couldn't bring Kerry's shotgun, a screwdriver was the only other thing they could come up with.

Eh, so what. Let him mess with his own podium if it makes him glow.

Kerry doesn't feel like he needs a 15-second warning, so let him make an ass of himself by getting cut off mid-sentence on national tv.

As long as his people don't demand that President Bush also go without the warning...

This warning-light thing tells me that Flipper has been worked up into a fine tizzy this morning... I think he will either have to Sweat like a Pig tonight or else double or triple up on Prozac, at which time he will get those Hollow Sunken Scary-Kerry eyes that will swish and slosh and roll from side to side while his Marfan chin goes the opposite directions... It should be quite a show tonight...

Its really a three way debate. Kerry should be allowed twice as much time on each answer so that both of his multiple personalities have an opportunity to express themselves.

BTW, does he have different names for his different personalities?

Several responses to Crybaby Kerry on Lightgate. You were a debater at the Yale Political Union, as was I -- THOSE MODERATORS USED STRICT TIMING. You are a lawyer, as am I, so you probably know that the US Supreme Court has three lights on its lectern, and when the red bulb lights up YOU HAVE TO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP, IMMEDIATELY.

Lastly, there is the point that YOU AGREED TO THE TIMING LIGHTS.

If you cannot keep your word for four days on the subject of a timing light, for crying out loud, how can ANYONE take you seriously about ANYTHING at ANY TIME?

What a putz.
