U.S. Senate candidates Erskine Bowles and Richard Burr are in a full court press. Two months ago, a WRAL News poll gave Bowles a commanding 10 point lead. After the latest poll, new numbers show only one point separates the two candidates with 11 percent undecided.

I TOLD YOU SO
to all the worry-warts and complainers who've been moaning about this race. Burr is probably 1-4 points back right now and will forge ahead in the next month.
Let's hope Bush can build a big enough lead to put in campaign stops for people like Burr and Coburn.
Good news from North Carolina ping.
After W cements his lead I'll bet he shows up to help win this and some other Senate seats just like he did in 2002.
Does anyone know how Thune is doing against the EVIL One?
This would be absolutely heroic. Do you really think Bowles is over?
Some good news.
The thing about these Mason-Dixon polls is that they weight them to reflect the party numbers:
52 percent Dems, 35 percent GOP, to reflect the registered voters in NC.
I think it'll be close ~ 5 points or less ~ but while I've maintained that Burr will win because of the fundamental nature of the race and the matchup, he is in better position than I'd thought.
That one would be huge!! What a waste for Bowles, he's been running non-stop for the senate for like half a decade now...
Dude, we dominate the South. The media want to prop up Bowles and Tenenbaum. Forget it. The South is ours.
Good news indeed...Burr will make a superior senator!
Last poll I heard of had Daschle five points ahead.
That is really good news. I was afraid Burr was too far behind to close the gap. Hopefully this poll shows I was wrong.
Great news, obviously. But weren't two polls released in the last week showing Bowles up by like 8%-10%? I'd like to see another poll showing the race this tight before I place Edwards' Senate seat in our corner. There was a poll about 10 days ago showing it tight, and the next two polls that came out sure rained on our parade.
The Sioux Falls Argosy-Misleader ran a poll last week that had Daschle up by five pts.
Another poll had Thune up by 3 pts.
I like the numbers on this poll too.
But I'll reserve judgement 'til I see another poll with similar or better numbers for Burr.
My recollection is that Bowels started with a huge cash advantage over Burr, plus a better name recognition after his humiliating defeat by Liddy Dole.
Burr's TV and Radio campaign is in full gear now, glad to see the gap is closing.
One of the most popular bumper stickers in our area is a white oval with "BBB". (Bush, Burr and Ballentine (Gov))
Let's hope that between Burrs airtime and Bush's coattails we end up with two "R" Senators again in NC.
