Correct. The IMPRESSION people will get overall is of Bush in command, and sincere, and human. Bush was ON MESSAGE--once the debate is forgotten, the IMPRESSION will remain. Bush won.

I think that Bush lost on debating points. But I also thought he lost on points to the more polished Gore 4 years ago. Kerry wasn't weird (like Gore), but he was slick. Bush could lose on debating points, but win overall impression, because it will be the impression that carries forward into the polling booth. Maybe we'll have a better idea of how Bush really did in a few weeks, when the dust settles.
