If there is any doubt what a Kerry win would mean to the investor class, you only have to look at the immediate 3 point break in the Overnight S&P 500 trade. The market broke 3 full points as soon as the media instant polls were reported showing a win for Kerry
what instant polls?
someone ought to call CSPAN and make people aware of what this means---
CBS insatnt poll declared Kerry the winner
What was market response to hurricanes, or possibly iraqi oil line sabotage as a comparison?
The market is usually totally dead this time of night. The media always will hide the fact that a Kerry win would trash the stock market. During the Gore Florida lawsuit frenzy, every pro-Gore news collapsed the market, and every pro-Bush news rallied it big. CNBC would sit there and say "look at this wild volitility", but would never admit to it's viewers that the market was trading off a fear of a Bush loss. The media will never tell the truth this time either.
Didn't the Kerry campaign say to spin, spin, spin?
Was there ever any doubt?
Money will be lost everywhere, for the common good.
Are you THE ElRushbo, or do you just want to get lots of replies from the girls? :^)
I like my news from reputable sources. What do you expect DNC-BS to say?
***CBS insatnt poll declared Kerry the winner***
Was the poll forged? =P
The S&P is headed down now, as you say, but I'm not sure if the timing is suspicious or not.
--
Its the media spin. Bush did not do as bad as the MSM is portraying it.
**CBS insatnt poll declared Kerry the winner**
And why should we believe CBS?
Instant polls are bogus because the DNC sent out mass emails today with all the URLs and talking points and URL for the votes this afternoon, telling everyone to get their votes ready to fire the minute the debate was over. No one cares about internet polls!
Exactly, babe!! Hell, I'm for Bush but I'll admit- Kerry won the debate.....well, more like Bush handed it to him by being too passive.... I dont think many minds were changed by this
3 points is nothing...it will take a few days to shake this thing out...and they will still have Dubya ahead. relax.
This is not random. The market doesnt move like this at 11PM-- the market knows the debates went bad for Bush and knows Kerry may pick up a few points in the polls. A kerry win is devestating to the US economy.
The markets are responding to the spin. Do not watch the polls over the next 48 hours, but the next week or so.
And that was even before the debate.
Yep...dont worry!!....some of ya'll on here are too uppity!! Relax!
I'm turnin off the pundits, pourin me some Jack&Coke, sayin a prayer for our Great Commander-in-Chief, and havin confidence that good will prevail. :)
There was a time when that might have meant something.
That is a minor change. Only 30 DJI points at most.
Suggested motto for CBS News:
"At CBS we get our information from reliable White Horse souses."
The RNC is putting out a statement on the fact that Kerry lied when he said that he never used that word. They have quotes by Kerry saying that Bush lied.
Markets LOVE certainty. John Kerry reeks of uncertainty.
I like yours better. :)
Yeeeha! Good stock prices for the buying tommorrow!
Well, that would certainly explain a few things, wouldn't it?
What is new is: this will trigger the credit bubble to implode which is weighed down by a record huge deficit. Then your going to see the el dumpo of all el dumpos and will make Black Monday look like a day at Disneyland.
So elect spendthrift taxamania Kerry and watch the economy fall into the abyss...

Kerry Lied in Debate

KERRY CLAIMS HE'S "NEVER, EVER" USED WORD "LYING" IN REFERENCE TO PRESIDENT BUSH ON IRAQ.
JIM LEHRER: "New question, Senator Kerry. Two minutes. You've repeatedly accused President Bush, not here tonight but elsewhere before, of not telling the truth about Iraq. Essentially, of lying to the American people about Iraq. Give us some examples of what you consider to be his not telling the truth."
SEN. KERRY: "Well, I've never, ever used the harshest word as you just did." (Sen. John Kerry, First Presidential Debate, Miami, FL, 9/30/04)
BUT IN DECEMBER 2003, KERRY TOLD NEW HAMPSHIRE EDITORIAL BOARD BUSH "LIED" ABOUT REASON FOR GOING TO WAR IN IRAQ. "Kerry also told a New Hampshire newspaper editorial board Friday that Bush had 'lied' about his reasons for going to war in Iraq, a word Kerry has been reluctant to use publicly for months. Yesterday he said he did not plan to use the word again." (Patrick Healy, "Kerry Camp Lowers N.H. Expectations Behind In Polls, Senator Now Seeks Spot In 'Top Two,'" The Boston Globe, 12/8/03)
AND IN SEPTEMBER 2003, KERRY SAID BUSH ADMINISTRATION "LIED" AND "MISLED." "This administration has lied to us. They have misled us. And they have broken their promises to us. The president promised to the people and the Congress that he would build an international coalition, respect the United Nations' process and only go to war as a last resort. I will tell you that from my war fighting experience, I believe there is a test for a president as to how you go to war. And that test is whether or not you can look in the eyes of parents and say to them, 'I did everything possible to avoid the loss of your son and daughter, but we had no other choice in order to protect the security of our nation,' and I know this president fails that test in Iraq." (Sen. John Kerry, Campaign Event, Claremont, NH, 9/20/03)

The market is a better reflection on the public opinion than those corrupted polls.
Money talks and b.s. walks...
Watch the Nasdaq and Dow at the open will tell you who is viewed as the victor...

I hope that this is reported on Fox and others tommorrow. They need to publish the DNC marching email orders.
thats it then. we simply have to put up a thread to "freep" ever single poll there is.
well maybe that will drop terezas fortune down a couple billion. guess who will be sleeping in a seperate hotel room again
Three points. That ain't much. I'm dubious about these things being connected.
that was 3 points on the S&P... in the middle of the night. thats not minor. when was last time S&P lost 3 points in the middle of the night?
Not Fox News. A few days ago their panel all agreed that a Kerry win would be a disaster for the market.
I was wondering about this. It will be interesting to see what happens today.
Fox News just had it reverse (one of the Cashin In guys was one). He said Wall Street will decide who won by it's movement.
If Wall Street goes up, the incumbent won the debate.
If Wall Street goes down, the candidate won the debate.
It makes more sense that way, as everyone knows uncertainty would bring down the market, and consistency would not.
Anyone - all of us included - that declare a winner in a political debate are only communicating what they thought before the debate started. In the case of the media, we know where they stand.
The S&P futures as of this morning (8:00 CDT) are up 4.4. The futures commonly vary more than this in a 24 hour period amd then resume close to the previous day's level.
so that means there was a 7+ point shift. is that normal?
Fox has been reporting time and time again that a Kerry win will be a disaster for the markets. Don't people hear this anywhere else?
