I saw it--I expected him to mouth "good job" or something like that. I rewatched the beginning of the tape and Lehrer's facial expression to Kerry at the end was unlike anything else throughout the night. He looked like his ship had come in.

Odd, isn't it, that the ONLY issue Kerry has is attacking Bush on Iraq -- and lo and behold, the ONLY questions Lehrer asks during the "Foreign policy" debate are about Iraq.

I was disappointed that Bush didn't talk about how unethical it is to authorize war without authorizing the money to fight the war, especially after that detail-robot talked about how the men weren't equipped. What audacity to bring it up! Furthermore, I STILL haven't got a clue about his plan for peace. Summits? Bush said that they already are having summits. Bring in more NATO nations? They already are--and if any more is done by our NATO "friends", we'll end up footing more of the bill and letting them take the cream of the profits from a rebuilt Iraq. Too bad Bush didn't mention anything about what theives the UN has been.

"but bush is running for president not reagan..and that's the problem."

Bush did a great job, he was honest, straightforward and thoughtful. He doesn't need to be anyone else but himself to win. Kerry is a lier. I caught at least 5-6 straight out lies. You can't be a great debater, if you lie. Bush did the right thing by not stooping to Kerry's level of insult. Go W!!!

How would he know what they would be talking about later?

Because Homeland Security was one of the debate topics.

Perhaps we should all remove our tin-foil hats so that we can focus on what is more important.

Note that my agreement on what I saw was only an obvious "bias" on the part of Lehrer. Nobody really doubts that. However, I seriously doubt that sKerry had the questions in advance, especially on the heels of Rathergate. Let's all get a little more serious.

Lehrer is just another Democrat with an undeserved reputation for fairness. Remember when he asked Clinton if he had had an affair with Monica and he let Clinton slide with the "answer" that he is not, in effect, having an affair right now at this minute in the studio?

Why do all the moderators have to be partisan Democrats?

He wants s to give nuclear components to the Mullahs of Iran, as a gesture, to see if they will use them for peaceful purposes! The man is insane.

[Nuclear sarcasm torpedo ARMED. FIRE!]

I beg to differ, but you must understand the nuance...he's French.

Remember when the EU set a November deadline for Iran to comply on nuclear materials?
What that really means, is that if Bush wins, and Iran doesn't yet have a nuke to drop on the US, then France will hand them one.

John Kerry merely wants to beat the Frenchies to the punch, n'est-ce pas?

I went back and read the transcript. You are correct, Lehrer said "The umbrella topic is foreign policy and homeland security".
My tin foil had is back in the drawer.

Yep. And no Swift Boat questions, no questions about Kerry's votes in the Senate against weapons systems, etc., etc.

Bush came across as a honest straight guy. Kerry acted like a slick lawyer, double talk, johnny cockrin style. I hope the rest of the folks saw what I saw
