"..or if we are worthy of what has been given to us."

I hear ya. We are a nation of instant gratification. Remember staying up late watching our military swoop into Iraq and how high Bush's approval rating was? Then once the adrenelin rush was over and people realized that in war, soldiers die, they turned against him. One of the things that sickens me most are the relatives of fallen soldiers blaming Bush. The same families that are SO PROUD of their military sons and daughters can't fathom that they may have to give their lives for their country. And the newspapers and media just love this sort of drama...crying and screaming mothers, angry fathers. And the sheep buy into it and Bush becomes the face of evil.

I'm sick of the media portraying a decent, honorable, Godly man as a babbling idiot and warmonger. Sometimes I wonder if our own citizens aren't the real enemy. The REAL evil. I admire Bush for his optimistic view of the American people and sometimes wonder how he keeps his cool head and kind heart. America is like a little child screaming "I want it MY way..I want it NOW!!" They want someone to fix their crappy little lives without moving from the armchair. God bless President Bush for being a true leader...even for those that hate him.

Sheesh, see what your post did to me??? lol

Thanks for the ping to a superbly crafted article that tells it like it is! I know one thing I don't want to be, and that's a citizen of a country led by World Emperor F'n.

I am sick and tired of this election

The Dems have been campaigning every day since the appointment of Robert Reich to the cabinet. Every word out of their mouths has been a trial balloon, and all of them are drifting in the wind. WTC911 shut them up for about six months, but otherwise it has been over a decade of Dems searching for a political philosophy. Searching, searching, searching, and not finding.

Who are we as a people? This is exactly the question November 2 will answer. As I've said more than once to a few of the people I most admire on FR, ever since 9/11/01 I've been figuratively holding my breath about this election because I just don't know the answer to that question. No, let me re-phrase to be more honest...I fear the answer to that question.

At this point, all I can do is to express my fear in a humorous way. I hope this is not what the American people have become:

I take offense to Pruden's comment about Germans pushing away from a plate of sausage................

Lots of us love sausage and NOT pushing away from the table is an "OK" thing.

To me, this is a very important article; I printed it off and read it carefully. I was "disturbed" when I finished, to say the least.

If the "global test" had applied at the time of the American Revolution, we would be playing "God Save the Queen" before World Series games. When the Declaration of Independence was passed on 2 July, 1776, not a SINGLE nation in the world was willing to support this new nation, the United States of America.

Thanks for the ping, W-S. This column is the kind of prose that puts steel in one's backbone. It is soaring, inspiring. We are not only on the winning side of the election, but on the winning side of history.

What's scary is that similar voices are raised in our own midst, that a serious, credible candidate for president of the United States encourages these voices of fear with articulate nuances, subtleties, modulations, explanations, variations, distinctions, innuendos and pious evasions.

Yes, the whole article is worth reading and surprising it was printed.

As Drudge said on his website....Let the spin begin. Post debate will be lots of spin by both sides on the debates. The debates did not change the mind of the decided. It is hard to believe that anyone could be undecided, but those that are will require a lot to be swayed into who they will vote for. I expect that critical undesided vote start to be divide by both parties over the next few weeks.

It is disturbing, especially here in lib la-la land. I am (sadly) sure that Kerry will win in my city....but perhaps not state-wide. There is presently a campaign to split our electoral votes....brought to us by the dims. I would like to think that a majority in our country see the inherent risks of a JFnK in the White House-yet it is hard to be optimistic here in socialist land. sigh.
