Hole in ozone layer shrinks
A GAPING hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica appears to have shrunk by about 20 per cent from last years record-breaking size, scientists said today.
Experts in New Zealand said their measurements backed up satellite data showing the hole peaked at about nine million square miles compared with 11 million square miles in 2003.
Scientist Stephen Wood said: "We need to see smaller ozone holes over a number of years before we can say for certain that ozone is recovering."
Oh God, NO!!! WE'RE ALL GONNA LIVE!!!!
I blame Bush.
YOU
BEAT
ME!!
LOLOLOL!!
But F'n Kerry says the Bush administration is ignoring the "actual science" of global warming.
It's Bush's fault. Look what he's doing to our ozone hole. He's completely destroying the hole in the ozone layer. Wait, that's supposed to be a good thing that the ozone hole is shrinking? How can that be. He rejected the Kyoto Treaty which was going to save the planet. I'm so confused.
Think of all those climatologists who will now be tossed out of a job! It is all Bush's fault and Haliburton and the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!
All your holes belong to us!
Yessirree, thank God we signed the Kyoto Treaty......NOT!!!!!
Yeah, but soon enough all our girls are gonna look exactly like this . . . |
Unless they have changed what produces ozone from when I was in school 50 years ago, it's produced by electric spark. it's the acrid smell for 20 minutes or so after a thunderstorm.
I want to know when they are taking these so called measurements.
Since there somewhere around 80,000 lightning strikes daily in the world and most occur durring the winter in the colder climates it only makes sense that the ozone production from high altitude lightning would close the hole durring the winter and it would expand durring the summer.
There is no way that ozone produced in the lower atmosphere could ever make to the ozone layer since it will combine with any matter it comes into contact with and immediatly produce oxygen and an oxide of whatever it comes in contact with. It can only remain O3 in a vacum.
Didn't kerry say last night that one reason our national security is worse under Bush is that we didn't sign the global warming treaty?
First I question the timing of this and of course it is Bush's fault.
Of course it shrunk - it was in anticipation of the Kyoto Treaty being enacted. Since we will not sign it, the hole is sure to get bigger again.
Bush just shrunk the hole shortly before elections so he'd get reelected... That devious president, shrinking our ozone holes. When will this corruption ever stop?
Here's one for the MSM...to ignore!
Anyone think this will be talked about on ABCNNBCBS?
