BTW, the folks at DU are talking about several of them infiltrating here as Republicans. As the rest of the election plays out, lets keep our eyes out for them.

I registered several id's over at DU months ago for "sleeper" activity. Disruption goes both ways. Note that we seem to have an edge ala the "memo's". "Rather" smart no?

The VRWC we never sleep....

3. The poll was conducted only in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones.

Interesting tidbit...... where did you find this info?

You'd think that Mr. Bush and his handlers would realize how important this first debate was , and have him bright eyed and BUSHYTAILED ( pun sorta intended ) and ON his game , n'est pas ?

You'd think that a sophisticated, continentally minded liberal like yourself would have a better grasp of your French grammar. The correct term is "n'est-ce pas."

I Think Prez Bush recognized the debate for what it was. A left leaning stupid media show and he doesn't have much patience with stupidity and grandstanding.

I see your point, but he seemed to handle Al Bore's stupidity and grandstanding better than Kerry's.

If this doesn't get the GOP out on the hustings, nothing will.

Why in the world would the Bush team agree to the three biased, leftie moderators? It blows my mind. Lehrer's questions were viciously anti-Bush. I still don't think that the debates have much utility, but if they're inevitable, then Bush should have held out for impartial moderators.

Me to. Just laying in wait. So many of the DU's register the same day and then post here. Stupid trolls.

I think he was really tired and overworked and since he has been President, he has a better grasp of the issues and was less tolerant of Kerrys obvious lies and know it all attitude than he was with Gore.

Thanks for the French grammar lesson . Haven't studied since high school 1969 ...

Liberal ? Whatever gave you that idea ? Is one to be labeled a liberal just because one criticizes or doesn't agree with the Prez ? Sheet !

Bush has shown he can stay cool and do well in debates, why it didn't happen Thursday I don't know.

I think that's for several reasons. And NOT, as some (thankfully few) people here have suggested/latched onto out of hope/desperation--that it was part of some long-term "strategy" to purposely blow it and "set a trap" for Kerry--that's crazy talk.

I think a big factor was that he was tired, it was a fool's decision to let W exhaust himself that day when he ought to have been resting. The way he was slumped over his podium, it struck me that if it was yanked from him, he'd collapse or something for lack of support. I think he was either overprepared or underprepared (more likely), he didn't seem to know what to say after a while so he just kept on repeating a lot of the same stuff again. I can understand staying on message but it became overkill. I also think Rove-Hughes advice shackled W into not going in for the kill because he had to be "nice" to supposedy appeal to them swing/women voters.

And lastly, I think there was overconfidence on his handlers parts, everywhere they went W. was treated like a conquering hero at the rallies. It was a case of tunnel vision, living in a bubble.

A DU troll won't last long here. Your garden varietty liberal/progressive is welcome here, at least by me, if they want to discuss issues.

DUmpster inhabitants are just too warped & rabid to disguise themselves for long.

Be positive, Freeper Friends. The polls are questioned around democrats, and are manipulated to acheive the results they want. Democrat polls are not reliable.

I certainly don't believe that anyone who criticizes the President is automatically a liberal. I disagree with him on several issues myself, but still support him. I just feel that now is not the time to join in the Bush-bashing chorus--constructive criticism is fine.

Sorry if I offended . . . just couldn't resist the grammatical opportunity.

Newsweak is playing with the numbers to help Kerry.

While I think this is somewhat true - it does appear through the great work of DVWJR (here on freerepublic) that while there was some adjustments done by Newsweek....it was no where near to the level that some where suggesting on here...

Also it appears post-debate more people are identifying themselves with DEM's - thus the uptick in their poll sample.

Coexerj145, you routinely suggested in the past 6 weeks it was perfectly fine for polls to show somewhat of an oversample of republicans precisely on this premise that more and more people were identifying themselves as Republicans.

Well, logic says that premise can run both ways then.

That is why you need to be careful and not just tout any poll when it is convenient for you.

The fact is when polls were showing samples of 38R - 34D this was a bad poll (even with it showing GW up).

The breakdown on election day will be around 40D-37 or 38R. (History suggest we will not see a voter turnout showing more Republicans than Democrats).

I don't trust Newsweek, I don't trust MSM. period. I'm sick and tired of the so-called intelligentsia who are trying to manipulate the results of this election and when they get caught doing it they act appalled that anyone DARE question their credibility. They call us names, they say it's a political jihad, Brokaw says the criticism "goes well beyond any factual information." Just to be clear, Brokaw was talking about US! That statement is about as laughable as Danny boy wanting to "break" the forgery story.

FreeRepublic and Bloggers must continue to nail those blankety blanks to the wall every single day. This is war.

I think this bounce will be very temporary. Wait until after the VP debate when Cheney wipes the floor with the "Silky Pony."

Agree. Cheney will have the opportunity to send the "Kerry Doctrine" to the dustbin of history.

I can't wait to hear the Break Girl explain how we call a summit with animals who shoot children in the back or why we need to pass a global test to defend Americans and our interests.

I'm betting Cheney will push the Break Girl to explain what he and his fellow John would do if France refuses to say "yes".

The fun is just beginning.

My only question concerning that statement is based upon the following from their Poll release on MSNBC.....

For the NEWSWEEK poll, Princeton Survey Research Associates interviewed 1,013 registered voters aged 18 and older between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 by telephone. The margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.

I can understand that any calls made on Sept 30 and if after the debate would have been in the Western time zones.... But did the calls made on Friday and Saturday also occur only out West ..... I personally doubt it and think it's BS to assume that, jmo until something more concrete is presented.

In fact, I think the most interesting debate scenario would be TWO moderators--one a liberal, the other a true conservative. Then we could be assured of the democrat never getting a free pass, but it wouldn't matter with the republican since they never get an easy ride!

The next best format in my view is when there are multiple moderators--not only does it cut down on this bullcrap by eating away more time, but even tho' the moderators may be all libs, their competitive streak has a good chance of taking over and they are more likely to ask hot button questions of a democrat (remember Bernard Shaw & Mike Dukakis).
