This Sunday morning my husband left the house to buy a newspaper, drove by the Republican Headquarters at Chambersburg and Washington Streets, and saw graffiti written all over the plate glass windows -- some swear words and something about soldiers dying.
This Republican office is closed Sunday. We reported it to 911 (state police, as the local police have limited hours and were not on duty). We also reported it to local Rep. Stephen Maitland's office (on an answering machine as they are not open), and reported it to the AP.
As noted above in an earlier article, sometime Thursday after the presidential debate, somebody threw 2 beer bottles through a plate glass window of the same office, created a massive hole and shattered the window. We went up there to get a replacement sign as our Bush sign was stolen from our yard the night of the debate. The office opened at noon and the pregnant office worker was close to tears, worried about her safety and the safety of her baby. Approx. 2 weeks earlier, someone shot the windows with a pellet gun, damaging but not breaking the glass.
Link to the Gettysburg Times: there is a tiny article somewhere in the crime section about the broken window.
**That office should install a surveillance camera,**
My thoughts, exactly!
Folks
Don't forget, this isn't the only one that it happened to. It's happened in numerous cities.
For instance, the headquarters in Huntington WV was vandalized twice. Once, some idiot fired a gun through the front window while people were in the headquarters watching Dubya's acceptance speech at the convention.
The thing is, this should be thought of as maybe...I dunno...a RICO style conspiracy by leftist operatives. And should be investigated as such. Cases before a grand jury, subpoenas served, all that.
Don't we have a friend in a federal prosecutors office somewhere that can take the ball and run with this thing? It's not as if it isn't legit, because it IS.
Put a sign on the window saying in 1863 51,112 men were wounded, mortally wounded and died in three days at Gettysburg.
Most of these small offices are run by groups of volunteers on very small budgets. No funding from the NRC or the Bush Campaign.
We find and empty building and rent it for 6 to 8 weeks before the election. Sometimes if the landlord happens to be a republican they will donate the building, but this doesn't happen often.
Our particular club has a fund raiser once a year to pay for this, along with buying signs etc.
Most areas are set up and run by volunteers. If there were lap tops in the office they probably belonged to individual volunteers.
In Alvin, TX. we have a pretty nice headquarters but there isn't anything paid for other than by the volunteers and people who come in and maybe drop a couple dollars in to help keep it running. This is just FYI.
It would be nice to have a surveillance camera, I agree.
***It would be nice to publish a photo of the vandalism with the headline "In 1864, Democrats bitterly opposed a war to end slavery. They are doing the same in 2004."***
EXCELLENT thinking.
That is awful.
But now that I think of it...we have a very large front yard. We live in a rural mountainous area. This morning we discovered that someone during the night had done numerous wheelies digging the yard all to heck. I jokingly told my husband that maybe they didn't like all our Bush/Cheney signs! Maybe that's why they did it. At least they didn't steal or hit the signs!
According to the WA state board the damage is much worse than that. They used info on the laptops to break into the RNC's national voter vault and wrecked it. All the get out of the vote effort since August... gone.
I don't have a lot of money, but I trying to find info on an inexpensive surveillance camera. Anyone have any suggestions?
Webcams are cheap. Even camcorders can be had for under $500.
Mount them near a window, facing out.
Radio Shack says they sell two products that should help:
(1) a camera that connects to a VCR and records for 8 hours, for $119
(1) a camera that can film at night, connects to a computer and can record endlessly, for about $200.
When the vandalized office opens Monday, I will offer to donate something to them until the election is over.
Sounds like Kerry's MO. Kerry's brother broke into opponent's HQ in his first campaign. Kerry lost and brother spent time in jail.
Kerry's KGB in action supported by some union thugs.
I wish Kerry would have been charged for the conspiracy that took place prior to the break-in.
any more info on this?
I hope you get out of Iraq soon. Not exactly one of my favorite destinations. Don't get kidnapped.
Maybe they should choose a more upscale area in which to place their Victory Center -- that part of town has no security and is filled with Democratic trash union workers. This vandalism just proves that the Bush team is effective and is making the opposition nervous. We're gonna take PA!
