Holbrooke Clarifies For Kerry: War A Mistake
This Week/ ABC | 10/03/04

Posted on 10/03/2004 8:21:27 AM PDT by Williams

Kerry's latest close foreign policy advisor (replacing the disgraced Burger) was pressed by Stefanopolous that Kerry said the war was both a mistake and not a mistake. Holbrooke said while the troops are fighting for their country and Kerry will support them in the "hell" they are going through, that going to war in Iraq and when Bush did was "of course" "a mistake."

I don't know why people are fooled into believing Kerry is just a waffler, when he is an unreformed left wing anti-war fool. In the debate, he called us "occupiers," he wants no bases in Iraq, he complained about us protecting the "Oil Ministry" and he basically wants to pull out as fast as he can get away with it.

Wasn't Holbrooke so left wing, and specifically so deferential to international authority, that he was rejected by the Senate for a Clinton administration position?

IMHO the GOP may have made a mistake by terming Kerry a flip flopper without the follow up punch that he's really a far left liberal.

Well, then that settles it. He is to pull our troops out of Iraq as soon as elected. That was the one good question Lehrer asked Kerry-reciting Kerry's words of "how do you ask the last man to die for his country? how do you ask the last man to die for a mistake?". Kerry really didn't have too good an answer but this needs to be hammered by the Bush campaign. According to Kerry, we should bring the troops home because it is a mistake, as Holbrooke is saying it is and Kerry has been saying it is. And why didn't Bush hit Kerry when Kerry brought up how Bush said knowing what he knows now, Iraq was still the right decision. KERRY SAID THE SAME THING A FEW MONTHS BACK yet Bush did nothing to confront Kerry with that.

Yep, in Holbrook's world, bombing civilians from 20,000 feet, so as to not take any American casualties, is the "right" way to do a war.

First the gigolo sends Biden out to say that he really really will support Allawi and now he sends Holbrooke out there to say the war was not a mistake before it was a mistake.

KEEP ON KEEPING ON DUMS.

No. Holbrooke served as our ambassador to Germany and as our ambassador to the UN. He has also served as an Assistant Secertary of State for European and Canadian Affairs, and he was confirmed by the Senate on August 25,1994. Holbrooke was also an FSO and a Peace Corps Director for Morocco.

Ambassador Holbrooke began his career in 1962, immediately after graduating from Brown University, as a Foreign Service Officer. After studying Vietnamese, he was sent to Vietnam and, in the following six years served in a variety of posts related to Vietnam -- first in the Mekong Delta as a provincial representative for the Agency for International Development (AID), and then as staff assistant to Ambassadors Maxwell Taylor and Henry Cabot Lodge. In 1966 he was re- assigned to the White House, working on the Vietnam staff of President Johnson. In 1967-69, he wrote one volume of the Pentagon Papers, served as a special assistant to Under Secretaries of State Nicholas deb. Katzenbach and Elliot Richardson, and simultaneously served as a member of the American Delegation to the Paris Peace Talks on Vietnam, Headed successively by Averell Harriman and Henry Cabot Lodge.

Look at this scenario:
John Kerry wins the election.
John Kerry turns the Iraq war over to the UN.
The UN turns Saddam over to the World Court.
Based on Kofi Annan's statement that the war is illegal, the World Court declairs this and returns Saddam to power saying he should not have been removed by this war.
This is scary because it is a good possibiity.

Holbrooke has a very, very unsavory history. He is a fraud and should have his history splashed across the internet.

If I am not mistaken, Holbrooke and Jennings swapped wives a few years ago.

Does anyone know what Holbrooke muttered to George Stephanopolis during "This Week..." when George was showing the candidates during the debate? In the first clip Holbrooke was in a split screen with Kerry and stated something obviously not intended for the viewers to hear. I'm just curious.

I just joined free republic today. Man what a great site. I'm still looking up stuff but folks tell me if I'm wrong. Al-qaeda and Saddam had more than contacts they were allies. The NY Times stated that Al-qaeda and Saddam had a collabrative relationship as they worked to undermine the Saudi Royal family. Al-Zarqawi and dozens of Al-Qaeda fighters fled Afghanistan to Iraq. Some ended up with the terrorist group Asar Al-Islam in northern Iraq. Saddam used this group to persecute the Kurds. At Salman Pak Saddam's Fedayneen trained Al-qaeda fighters in the use of chemical weapons.
Saddam was actively seeking yellow-cake uranium from Niger, that's what the British Intelligence report claims. Dr. Rice said today that Saddam was seeking equipment to restart his nuclear program. We found mass graves, two artillery shells with mustard gas one with sarin gas. The question is not whether Saddam had stockpiles of WMD's but what happened to them? And 1.7 tons of radioactive materials were removed from Iraq at the end of june. I believe 90 pounds of it was enriched uranium, that could have been used to build a dirty bomb.
Saddam Hussein gave al-qaeda a base of operations, trained them. If given time based on what we know today, saddam would have had the opportinity to give Al-Qaeda a dirty or nuclear bomb. The time to take him out was before he became an imminent threat.
I almost forgot. An opponent of the war President Putin claims Russia has intelligence that Saddam was planning future attacks against us. Well, does anyone recall the Boeing 707 at Salman Pak that the Fedayneen trained on. I believe some intelligence officals say that they were merely engaging in counter-terrorist activities. C'mon who on earth would want to hijack an Iraqi aircraft? Certainly not Al-Qaedas or Hams. Isreal would just shoot the damn jet down. We don't need anymore 9/11's. I believe Iraq was the right war at the right time. If my facts are correct, and I'm still doing my research, can anyone tell me why the President and the RNC are silent on this? Let's see some ads, let's see the Vice-President bring this stuff up in the next debate.
Again what a great site. God bless every one.
Jim

You are correct. The reason Kerry flip-flops is because he cannot get elected if he tells the voters what he really would do. Time for the Republican-leanning 527s to run some ads showing Kerry as the far leftie that he is.

Does anyone else find it frightening that there are so many people in this country that are buying this crap? This guy Kerry, is the most pathetic candidate that the Dems could have put forth and yet the race appears to be so close.

Perhaps things aren't always as they appear to be and President Bush will win BIG inspite of everything that's been thrown at him.

You're most likely demonstrating (through example) what Kerry reffered to in the debate (last Thursday) as passing a "Global test."

Scary? Yes, you're right.

I'm sick and tired of hearing that Kerry only agreed to the bill because he thought that work with the UN would have been deeper. If he believed this his name should have been on a few of the amemendments that the Dems tried to put through that failed. Read the history on this.

Totally agree. I think the flip flop idea has gotten through, but this needs to be followed up with showing how far left and dangerous Kerry's ideas are for America. The 'Global Test' ad is a start, but they need to pile it on now.

It is very scary because John Kerry is in this race! The insanity of the American populace is astounding. You know it's near the end of days. I'm just praying for four more yrs. of Bush. I know the Demonrats/liberals will eventually take over this country with the invaders adding to their vote, their skill in vote fraud(WILL THE GOP DO SOMETHING THIS ELECTION?), the control of education, media. It's really scary with all they control. I could see another Civil War breaking out really. With a John Kerry win you can assure celebrations in the streets of our terrorist enemies, you will then see the continued violence against our troops as the terrorists will at least KNOW John Kerry's record with VVAW and Senator(unlike the ignorant American populace) and they will continue to wear us down with their mind of the fact Kerry will not get the French and German help, Kerry has a record of cutting and running and being it is a 'mistake' and the talk of taking troops out-it is a disaster for our troops, period. With Bush these terrorists know we are not leaving. With Kerry you've got instability and with liberal policies, Iran and North Korea will be emboldened. The Patriot Act and liberal PC regarding racial profiling in our country(Arabs tend to be terrorists!), it will be a disaster. A Kerry election would be a celebration of the terrorists and regimes around the world because it's obvious who Kerry is.

John Kerry is totally inept and what is frightening about this is that he is only going to be a figurehead for George Soros and the Ted Kennedys of this country. The only reason he wants to be President is to satisfy his strong super ego. He is really a very weak man as demonstrated by his personal inabilities and indecisiveness. He is incapable of being a true leader. We are in major trouble in this country because of those who have no depth or understanding of the TRUE picture. People who rely on Hollywood or recording 'stars' for the decisions they make regarding the leaders of our country are going to bring us to damnation. These people are just too stupid to be free. Those of us with some insight into the gravity of this election, very unfortunately, are going to perish along with these fools. God help us all if Kerry wins (and I don't say that lightly!)
