The Muslim Problem

In 1967 and 1968, Japan, Europe and America were aflame with violence. From the London School of Economics, to the Sorbonne, from Japan to Rome and in dozens of cities across the United States, tens of thousands of students staged protests and sit-ins throughout the countries of the First World. While dozens of books with varying theories concerning the causes of this conflagration have been written, most agree implicitly or explicitly on one thing: post-war fecundity, the unusually high world-wide population of young people following World War II, was the fuel for the fire. The irony is rather interesting.

Muslims could use some family planning and birth control. With a whole lot fewer children, they would not be producing nonstop murderers.

"The Muslim Problem"

Am I the only one to think this is an Oxymoron?

Contraception is a violation of the human person. Much as I dislike what passes for Muslim theology, I most definitely have no wish for them to pick up the contraception/abortion habit. Contraception has much in common with crack cocaine, and much the same effect. They have enough ways to self-destruct without throwing that in.

IMO birth control is a gift from the Almighty for people with some common sense.

"Muslim Problem" is not an oxymoron, because it is patently true, rather than patently false. An oxymoron would be something more like "Moderate Muslim" of "Truthful Democrat."

Ah, an urban intellectual. :) Note how tkathy implies that all Christians prior to 1930 were damned fools or at least lacking in common sense.

It will be noted that liberal Democrats tend to embrace birth control, and its necessary adjunct, abortion, while conservatives tend to be less sanguine about either. As a result, the population of "blue states" is static or falling while the population of "red states" tends to rise. The birth dearth not only harms nations - it also harms parties. The Democrats are contracepting and aborting themselves out of existence, apparently because they possess "good sense."

The beauty of "good sense", as defined by urban intellectuals, is precisely that their own dearly held beliefs tend to reduce the excess population of urban intellectuals.
