There is no "Media War". There is only an out of control, biased media.
My take as well. Too many of these enter the field with the attitude that the military and the government MUST be lying and that it is their duty to disbelieve them and write something else. Careers were made that way during Vietnam. And those who do dare to send positive news back to editors similarly predisposed find it on the cutting room floor.
I have long suspected that the reason the "embeds" were pulled from their units so soon after the main fighting stopped was that management was determined to re-assert control over how the public had the military presented to it, and not in the interest of letting the military look good. The only "media war" is within the media on the part of a generation of cynical, anti-Vietnam-war partipants who are trying to cast the world in the mold of their own illusions.
