MONTREAL (CP) - The re-election of George W. Bush as U.S. president would threaten world peace, the first wife of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger said Wednesday.
"I think President Bush (news - web sites) is in my view, if I may say so, the most dangerous man in power today," Bianca Jagger told reporters after addressing the opening of the second global conference against the death penalty.
"There is a threat not only for the people of the United States but if he is elected, I feel it would be a threat for the world and would unfortunately put us in a position where we will be confronting the possibility of a third world war."
Jagger, who is a goodwill ambassador for the Council of Europe, said she appealed in 2000 to the former Texas governor to block the execution of a man who was imprisoned when he was 17-years-old. The council monitors human rights and democracy in more than 40 countries.
When he refused, she witnessed the execution along with the man's family and other death penalty opponents.
"The execution of a condemned man is barbaric," she told delegates to the four-day conference. "The execution of an innocent man is murder."
The 59-year-old Jagger, who once dated former prime minister Pierre Trudeau, said living in Nicaragua under a dictatorship taught her the meaning of oppression.
Can she even sing?
How about just shut up!
Go save a seal.
Bianca Jagger--now there's someone with their finger on the pulse of the world. Puh-lease.
Not terrorists. Not Saddam. Not Iran or North Korea. Not Osama. But Bush will threaten the world. Words fail me.
Yeah, and another Rolling Stone album will threaten the very fabric of Rock and Roll.
I was just waiting for her opinion on this matter. Now I can choose wisely. /sarcasm
Peace is overrated.
Seems like the new career for entertainment has-beens has become that of political commentators. LOL!
Well now that Bianca has weighed in, I'm just waiting for Brian Boitano's opinion, then I'm deciding.
That's IT!
NOW I know who I'm voting for.
Bianca, honey,...we are in a third world war....
I'm changing my vote to the RATS all because I am impressed with the political savy of these mental giants.
Interesting that her qualifications to issue an opinion have to do with the fact that she married Mick Jagger and "dated" Pierre Trudeau, neither of which puts her in a very exclusive category, or so it seems to me.
I think this old song goes the governor of Texas does not have the power to block executions... they can delay them a maximum of 30 days or somesuch.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I derive all my political savvy from the musings of dried up hippy wannabe rock stars. Like the Oracle at Delphi, Bianca (or is that Bohica) spews pearls of wisdom.
Some things are worse than war. Servitude is one. Having children murdered is another.
To the Eurotrash, nothing is more important than peace. To conservatives, freedom is more important. I think that is the difference.
What a stupid b*tch. The war started on 9/11/01. We didn't want it, didn't ask for it, didn't invite it, but it was forced on us. Now we have to win it because if we don't end it now it will just go on with more innocents slaughtered just like on 9/11, only worse, perhaps.
I really don't understand why idiots like this useless twit insist on pretending that 9/11 never happened.
So this article tells me who she sleeps with and what she thinks. Couldn't it tell me why I should give a rat's behind?
When you old,
Nobody will know.
That you were a beauty
But stone, stone cold!
might I ad stupid?
More proof that drugs really do fry your brain.
This is news, to Yahoo?
WTF?
Disgusting.
Oh and just for the record, and in the interests of full disclosure my kid brother had a dog from the pound once that he named "Bianca" - and that dog was a pain in the a$$ if I remember correctly.
I think we should all be a whole lot more respectful of the one and only woman on this planet who got the worst modelizer in human history to the altar.
I always get my political advice from people who sleep with Mic Jagger. Speaking of which, I wonder how David Bowie weights in on this.
Why should we give a rat's a** about what Bianca Jagger thinks?
True...All FReepers, bow down to the skanky hos of the world, for they are wise and all-knowing.
OH COME ON.... BIANCA JAGGER?? A woman who MARRIED MICK JAGGER and got pi$$ed because he fooled around???
Stupidest woman on the planet.... What is with these "journalists" going out and digging up some has been and parading them around like "HERE'S ANOTHER ONE!".
And with her it ain't shut up and sing. It's shut up and ... well, I'd say something but I'm a lady.
"The execution of an innocent man is murder."
Does she realize this statement condemns Saddam Hussein many times over?
Speaking of Shut Up & Sing, Larry Elder played a clip of an interview he did with Cher just before the 2000 election where she said if Bush were elected, women would lose all their F---ing rights. As Larry reminded us the other day, "four and a half years later and women haven't lost their F---ing rights." Same thing with Jagger. Have we been attacked since 9/11???
That's it, I was a strong Bush supporter, but now that I found out that Bianca is against him, I must now join her. /sarcasm
Bianca's claim to fame is she was a rock groupie.
I used to sleep with a rock star, so now I know what the world should so.
Why does anyone pay attention to this twit?
I don't blame her, I blame the idiots who originally quoted her. Are they running out of clueless celebrities to quote?
Are you sure that it is Boitano's opinion you are waiting for or Greg Luganus?
Has anyone asked Charo, Raquel Welch or Cher what they think? How about ZhaZha Gabor, I know SHE`S go something to say. Ask the most least relevant Jagger what she thinks of this, I`d rather have the "most" dangerous man in power than the "least" dangerous.
Really... have you heard from Axel Rose? How about Stevie Wonder's recent house honey? I'm not voting until Axel comes through with info on the Prez. We gotta get down with this.
Then we're all jetting to Depp's house to hear his kid sing dis-Bush lyrics. She's going gold when Sarandon's dog comes in with the investment and Penn hooks her up with the Chronicle. She be bi, ya know, dog....
sheesh!
Bianca Jagger has a lot of nerve - especially when she knows the onl rock star's wife whose opinion we care about is Yoko Ono!
Where's Cynthia Lennon when you need her?
Freeperville, USA Today Freeper Lafroste declared that Bianca Jagger was a "Noisome Twit" lending strong credence to the notion that the aging gold digger truely has nothing to add to any contemporary discussions on any issues of any signifigance. He added, "It's absurd that media muck hounds go out and report on the rantings of old fools, who, even in their prime were vainglorious narcissists sporting an IQ of a brick."
Ms. Jagger was unavailable for comment, but who cares.
What would Brian Boitano do, if here were here today?
he'd make a plan and he'd follow through, that's what Brain Boitano do!
Love that song from the South Park Movie
Another stupid celebrity...
What has SHE contributed to the world?
What World Peace????
DUH - Hey Bianca, you Nicarauguan slut, the third world war started 3 years ago, where have you been? Just wake up from a drug binge or what? Just another idiot!!!

That clinches it. I'm voting for Kerry. |
