This is to be expected in a world that has forgotten God. Without morals, what makes human flesh sacred over animal flesh? Nothing. It was missionaries who taught cannibals that you don't eat people. A world that ignores God is a world on a sea without a compass. It is a directionless world. When people turn from God, they lose their ability to tell up from down; left from right. "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil." A world that no longer can discern between true good and true evil is a world that has lost touch with reality.
Morals are difficult to discern from the five senses. Some can. Heterosexual is obviously the designed norm, and is morally better. Everyone has a conscience, but everyone's conscience is not trained. Morals are not discerned from the conscience because the conscience is nothing more than a navigation system. Once the conscience is trained, it is quite good at keeping the individal on course. But the conscience must be trained. An immoral world ignores the guidance God's Word could give. Without the black and white principles of right and wrong which you find in the Bible, the conscience is unequipped and ineffective. Some people only see shades of gray and find themselves crippled, unable to make moral judgments. Such people follow the crowd and trust in the wind.
A man who would "eat his girlfriend" is a person who has long ago lost touch with reality. This kind of departure from reality begins early. I could imagine the man's parent giving a defensive response, "we sure didn't teach him to eat people." But the unanswerable question is, "what did you teach him?" Did you tell him "no", when he needed to be told "no"? Did you teach him at a tender age to say "thank you", and "excuse me", and "please"? Did you teach him to give and be respectful of others? Did you teach him to respect life or did you teach him to respect what makes you feel good. Sloth breeds sloth. Selfish parents make selfish offspring. The Bible tells parents it is their duty to raise up their children to know Him.
There are many people in this very predicament. Though the temporal consequences are different, in the end, sin is sin. Those who vote for politicians who support the murder of babies are no different. Just because their evil has become mainstream does not make it less irrational. People who vote union so ensure a hefty contract are living in darkness. To say "I'm personally against abortion, but support a woman's right to choose" is nonsense and demonstrates disconnection from reality. A person who votes for the candidate who will put someone else's money in my pocket has lost touch with reality. The disconnect occurs the moment I justify murder because the baby is only partially delivered is the moment I've turned off the guidance system. There are Senators and Congressman and Judges and Mayors and City Officianls and Preachers and Parents who have done this. They have no guidance system and have trekked off into deep and murky waters. The world without God is courting disaster. The parent who failed to teach Junior right and wrong has helped to breed the kind of evil that wold "eat my girlfriend."
We need God. We need to learn His ways and seek his forgiveness.
He can crack up his prison pals by saying (in the cafeteria, when they serve chicken): "Hey, this tastes just like human!"

If he had chopped her up in Arkansas when Clinton was Governor, it would have been ruled a suicide.
