Do you know which 58 counties? Was Summit one of them?
The unemployment rate in Summit County decreased from 5.4% to 5.3% in August (the last month available).
I wasn't the one comparing unemployment rates at the end of Clinton's term with the current rates and implying that they meant something.
Earlier this year, Moby told the Democrats to pretend to be Republicans and go on message boards, etc., and try to get them to stop voting for Bush. Soon after that, we got a whole bunch of trolls who pretended to be conservatives and kept saying nothing but negative things, said we shouldn't vote for Bush, etc. Reverse Moby turns that strategy around on them. ;)
We are still getting a LOT of those trolls, so a lot of people here are paranoid about newbies... so, hang tough, and welcome to FR. 8o)
At least the stocks have stopped going down... Thought it was gonna tank... phew.
The electoral college prevents us from having Florida happen in every precinct in every county in America.
It doesn't pay to do fraud in a lot of places, so they don't bother. And it doesn't pay to fight for 10,000 more votes in a state if all the electoral votes go to one candidate. violence and fraud at the polls would go up if we had direct election of the president where every vote everywhere can make the difference.
The Electoral College is a piece of genius and should not be tampered with.
AMEN...
I hate people that think they are much smarter than our founders and seem to know what the founders were thinking or meant by what was written..
Leave our country alone, you Commie pigs..
"I wasn't the one comparing unemployment rates at the end of Clinton's term with the current rates and implying that they meant something."
The point was that the same poeple saying 5.4% unemployment under Bush is bad, said 5.6% unemployment under Clinton was good. I was pointing out hypocricy.
The markets are not collapsing. The Dow is up a few.
What is funny is that Kerry will hammer this number tonight, even though his own jobs plan prmises 3-4 million jobs in 3-4 years, which is 100,000 per month, which is what Bush is doing. Bush should just say, "Kerry is so negative, he doesn't approve of his own jobs plan." Finally, by January '05, Bush will be in the positive jobs range according to this trend, so the remark, "the first President to lose jobs" is false, or at least premature.
Actually it shows just how exaggerated the Democrats claims of millions and millions of jobs lost is. 585,000---that's a lot less than 3 million.
LOL!! Only on Free Republic could the addition of 96,000 jobs in one month be called bad news. You people are killing me!! :-D
Yes, but Kerry has a plan and if enacted not just the top 95% of people will have jobs.
John Kerry: If I was President, we have a secret plan to create a kamillion new jobs.
(If you are going to lie, lie big.)
That may be true, but tonight if the President doesn't mention the household survey numbers and explain the difference between it and the payroll survey, most of the swing voters will never be aware of it.
Same for outing and refuting all of the media/Kerry's mantra lies, from 'the outsourcing of Tora Bora' to what Bremer and Duelfer's report ACTUALLY said. People want specifics and need the details explained. Simple slogans, assumptions that everybody sees what he sees, and "Its hard, its hard" ain't going to cut it. This campaign has pretty much let the media and Kerry define way too much and spin with very little refutation, appears to have done little to prevent long-forseen problems with vote fraud and electronic polling, and even James Baker right now looks to have been spoken. Thankfully, Bush can counteract a good bit of that with a good performance tonight and in the final debate, but he has to step up to the plate. Tonight will go a long way towards determining whether history will view him as a Jimmy Carter or a Ronald Reagan. But running out the clock is NOT a viable option.
This election is very winnable, we are still in the lead, but it is amazing that Charlie Brown RNC still routinely lets Lucy pull the ball away from him.
Correction: "...and even James Baker right now looks to have been snookered."
I certainly never suggested that markets would collapse.
ABC terms this figure "lackluster".
