Doesnt it start in 2 hours?
To: Orange1998
Debate isn't for two hours, dude. Why not do a "Pre-debate thread," then start a real one closer to the time?

I thought President Bush won the FIRST debate. But it appears I am in the minority...! But then again, I only went by the words and not how kk looked.

I thought that the President looked uncomfortable in the 1st debate, and I think we kept repeating the same responses over and over rather than show some "on the feet" adjustments. Kerry is void of substantial ideas, but as past opponents will attest, he generally comes out "ahead" in debates.

well, they may strut in to complain, but with enough of us slapping them down, they'll limp out.
To: Orange1998
I have a question that I've been thinking about.
Much of the conventional wisdom seems to be that Bush needs to be more aggressive in this debate. But, does anyone else think that the format makes this strategy potentially dangerous? Bush is not allowed to ask Kerry questions, and the format might make it look like Bush is dodging the question to bash Kerry. In any case, he has to be clever about it.

This will be carried by most major networks. And CBS.
I think that Bush will do much better tonight. I don't think I can watch though - I get too nervous and upset. I may have to depend on FR to keep me up to date.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. You've forgotten the dumbing down of the American student over the last um, 30 years...! Oh! Add to that factor the "I'll let you do what you want, as long as you give me what I want," attitude, and it's a recipe for a Clinton double-take.
To: ken5050
Look for the President to respond by repeating, "I will not apologize for putting the safety of the American people first and foremost."
That'll do.

I really don't think it will make a huge difference if you set it at 20, 50, 100 or 250. It will depend a lot upon the number of hits the servers get... If a lot it will be slow.

My gut is telling me Bush is going to come out swinging tonight and win this thing. The format works to his strengths and Kerry's weaknesses, expecations are low for Bush, and Bush has really laid into Kerry's senate record in the past couple days.
