Congratulations to actor Ron Silver for his clear analysis on MSNBC after second debate tonight. He said that Kerry always says he would do a better job creating and leading an international alliance to confront threats like Saddam. But in 1991 when Saddam's troops were in Kuwait, President Bush's father formed a coaliton that included France, Germany, and a final UN Security Council resolution endorsing the use of force. But Kerry still voted NO on January 12, 1991 when he was asked to support the UN authorization and send US troops to Kuwait. If Kerry could not even confront Saddam under those circumstances of clear provocation when the whole world was lined up, what in the world makes anyone think he would ever be capable of confronting any major threat to the US? He could not even follow an international alliance let alone lead one.

Kerry contradicted himself within a few minutes tonight on Iraq:

At one point he said that he's always thought Saddam was a threat and has never changed that position.

A few minutes later he said the president took his eye off the ball and went after Saddam even though he wasn't a threat to us.

Kerry's 1991 vote on Desert Storm was one of the very few points that I remember Bush missing during the second debate. Overall, he was SO much better than last week.

I agree completely. Even though I did not think Bush did that badly in the first debate, perceptions are relative to expectations. Tonight the President was 100 percent better than last week just because he exuded so much more energy and confidence.
