Nobel Peace Prize winner is completely clueless

As predicted, the latest Nobel Peace Prize winner is completely clueless. Kenyan ecologist Wangari Maathai believes that the AIDS virus was deliberately created. She had this to say: "Some say that AIDS came from the monkeys, and I doubt that because we have been living with monkeys (since) time immemorial, others say it was a curse from God, but I say it cannot be that. "Us black people are dying more than any other people in this planet."

She went on to say that AIDS was created by a scientist for biological warfare. Of course, she had no facts to back any of this up. Maybe somebody should have asked her why someone would create an agent for biological warfare that takes years to kill. Of course, what she really wanted to do was repeat the urban legend that the CIA created AIDS to wipe out the African population.

You know, they could give out these Nobel Peace Prizes inside of cereal boxes and they would easily reach more intelligent and deserving people than this lady.

If everybody stopped having premarital sex for a generation or at least had safe sex there would be great inroads being made. This lady is an idiot.

Oh, sorry, from the title of this thread, I thought that the Nobel committee had given the prize to Jimmy Carter again!

I think the Norwegians outdid themselves this year for stupidity picking this babe.

What do you expect with the bunch of second hand politician derelicts they have on Norwegian nobel prize committee.

One prominent norwegian threatened to quit the committee because the others on it were such idiots.(I live in Norway).

" they could give out these Nobel Peace Prizes inside of cereal boxes and they would easily reach more intelligent and deserving people than this lady."

Well, ......it went to someone few people have heard of. (like I said might happen.)
They've really turned it into a meaningless award. Literature, also. What a joke.

" Caption away."

Words escape me.

And to think, all my teacher in grade school would have had to do, to shut me up, was to show me a picture of that. ;)

"Lady", if AIDS was targeted at black people, why are white people dying of it?

"Us black people are dying more than any other people in this planet."

Not only a Nobel winner, but apparently an English major as well.

Perhaps, the death rate from aids could be lessoned if they kept it in their grass skirts?

Wangari Maathai, world-renowned environmentalist and advocate for women's rights...

Wangari Maathai continued her work with the Green Belt Movement, and working for environmental and women's causes. She also served as national chairperson for the National Council of Women of Kenya.

Wangari Maathai's husband ran for Parliament in the 1970s, and Wangari Maathai became involved in organizing work for poor people and eventually this became a national grass-roots organization.

Wangari Maathai's husband divorced her in the 1980s, complaining that she was "too educated, too strong, too successful, too stubborn and too hard to control." They had three children.

In 1997 Wangari Maathai ran for the presidency of Kenya, though the party withdrew her candidacy a few days before the election without letting her know; she was defeated for a seat in Parliament in the same election.

In 1998, Wangari Maathai gained worldwide attention when the Kenyan President backed development of a luxury housing project and building began by clearing hundreds of acres of Kenya forest. In 1991, she was arrested and imprisoned; an Amnesty International letter-writing campaign helped free her.

In January, 2002, Wangari Maathai accepted a position as Visiting Fellow at Yale University's Global Institute for Sustainable Forestry.

She has addressed the UN on several occasions and spoke on behalf of women at special sessions of the General Assembly for the five-year review of the earth summit. She served on the commission for Global Governance and commission on the future.

"Us black people are dying more than any other people in this planet," Maathai told a press conference in Nairobi a day after winning the prize for her work in human rights and reversing deforestation across Africa.

"It's true that there are some people who create agents to wipe out other people. If there were no such people, we could have not have invaded Iraq," she said.

"We invaded Iraq because we believed that Saddam Hussein had made, or was in the process of creating agents of biological warfare," said Maathai.

"In fact it (the HIV virus) is created by a scientist for biological warfare," she added.

"Why has there been so much secrecy about AIDS? When you ask where did the virus come from, it raises a lot of flags. That makes me suspicious," Maathai added.

"She said (HIV/AIDS) was invented as a bioweapon in some laboratory in the West," a senior State Department official said. "We don't agree with that."

The official pointed to a report of those comments published in August in Kenya's daily Standard newspaper, in which Maathai was quoted as saying that HIV/AIDS was created by scientists for the purpose of mass extermination.
