Thank you. It's been a while since I've read the writings of the great man that built this country. Patrick Henry's words are so very appropriate for these times. I have to forward that brief to a farmer friend of mine in Africa. He'd like that shot of inspiration.

I usually hit the convenience store for chocolate :o)

Mmmmmm...Chocolate.

Otherwise now I go riding on the scooter, yoga, and wishing thinking about my own General Lee.

Is that you Daisy?

I've done the paintball thing, but it sure looks FUN.

Where else can a grown man get to dress up like a stormtrooper and shoot at teenagers, legally? :P

Seriously, My first time I played was with my best friend and his son in the back yard, and I was instantly hooked.

I can speak only from my own experience.

I witnessed an anti-war protest that was staged in on the steps of the County Courthouse in Decatur, GA.
Almost all the participants were aging baby boomers, who were easy to spot by the grays hairs and the expanding waist lines.
The participants were passionate in their denunciations against the war in Iraq, although their rhetoric was mild when compared to language of the Vietnam protests.

Few of the participants smoked, all were careful to cross the street at the green light, and when the demonstration was over, all the hand-held protest signs were placed in trash baskets.
One does not form a revolution from people who are concerned about their health, who wait for the proper signal to cross the street, and who are unwilling to litter.

As my husband once said when a drunk walked up to him and told him, "I'm gonna beat YOU up!!" My husband replied very cooly and calmly, "YOU AND WHO ELSE?!!" The guy rethought his position. . .

CANSWER marchers litter wherever they go. They are belligerant and threaten people that don't share their opinion. They charge police lines. They want Saddam back in power (no joke - I've seen such a sign at a protest in front of Rummy's house in Dee Cee.).

There are enough mutants there to start a revolution. Of the Kristallnacht kind.

The Jews of Germany kept a low profile, in a futile hope that they would be spared if they did not "provoke" the National Socialists. They deluded themselves that there would be a limit to the Nazis' thirst for blood. They thought that if they stayed put and stayed quiet, things would get better.

They paid for their timidity and delusion with their lives

If your friend is in South Africa or Zimbabwe, he needs to get out, any way he can, even if he leaves with just the shirt on his back

My aunt (mom's older sister) has been a Catholic missionary in Zimbabwe for going on 50 years. After all she's seen she ain't going anywhere, the kids need her now as much as ever.

My advice for one of my friends was that if you aren't going to leave, be prepared for a fight. I said, 'Be honest. Tell me about the news in the Sudan. Look at how they're getting treated. Do you think most of the world will take your side? They won't and fighting alone without support is HARD. Just ask Ian Smith about that.'

God help us. I really mean that. You know what I've been thinking tonight? I have a few liberal friends who would call me the next day to laugh in my face. And you know what I'm prepared to do? Tell them off, in no uncertain terms, and be done with the friendship. I've never felt this way before. It truly is becoming a war out there.

Yes I've been jettisoning negative hostile people out of my life. I thought I could reason with them but I have no time for that. I don't care to get another stroke absorbing their negativity. It IS a war you're right!

Agreed, but for work like Kristallnacht you need muscle, hardcore, dedicated muscle who will do anything on command. The people I saw at that protest may have been have been foolish and misguided, but they weren't storm troopers.

What are we going to do if Bush wins and these people get really violent?

W. IS going to win, and these people will not get really violent. Why? Because the vast majority of people will defend their lives and property with the use of deadly force.

Kristallnacht was not a revolution. The Beerhall Putsch was and look how it ended... Hitler in jail, Goering shot in the groin (before this he was a svelt fighter pilot), etc.

I don't think anything like this is remotely likely, but I'd welcome a liberal / pinko / commie attempt to start a civil war with Bush in power. We'd be armed AND we'd have the law on our side for this one.
