Complaints against the Sinclair Broadcasting network by John Kerry's presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee may have backfired, with non-Sinclair TV stations now expressing an interest in airing the documentary "Stolen Honor," which chronicles the candidate's role in the anti-Vietnam War movement.
"A few other TV stations around the country have contacted the producer of this documentary as well," Sinclair spokesman Mark Hyman told nationally syndicated radio host G. Gordon Liddy on Tuesday. "So there appears to be some growing interest in making this available to the nation's viewers."
Hyman said that Sinclair's decision to air the documentary was driven in part by a desire to pick up the slack from other broadcast networks, which have increasingly shunned news coverage in favor of entertainment programming. Referring the 13 Vietnam-era POWs who appear in "Stolen Honor" criticizing Kerry for protesting the war alongside the likes of anti-American actress Jane Fonda, Hyman told Liddy, "If anybody has earned the right to be heard on the subject of Vietnam, it's these men, who suffered such horrific abuse and unspeakable torture."
"For 31 years John Kerry has run away from that," he added.
Hyman said that while the exact format for the broadcast has yet to be determined, Sinclair has invited Kerry to give his side of the story after the broadcast.
Look for a ratings bonanza
How can he refuse?
They better not hold their breath. Heck, Kerry's camp won't even answer whether or not there was ever an attempt to dishonorably discharge him.
Three step plan for Hanoi John.
1. Submit Form 180.
2. Make those home movies available for public viewing.
3. Go for a drive with a drunken Ted Kennedy over a long weekend.
This is our October Surprise.
WELL ALRIGHTY .....
He DID refuse!! Saw it on O'Reilly last night (yeah...I know...).
The Dimwits made the same mistake with UNFIT FOR COMMAND. If Kerry hadn't sent his lawyers in to stop the stores from selling it, only a few of us would have read it. Make a big deal about something and it becomes a big deal and I couldn't be happier. I just hope it gets shown in the big cities.
I'm bummed that I can't get Sinclair Broadcasting in my area :0(
heh, heh - C'mon Johnny, why are you so ashamed of your meritorious duty.....???? Why do you, the champion of the people, wish to deny them the right to see you in all of your heroic glory? I really hope this happens, and that everyone in America has access via TV to his inglorious career....
COOL!!!!!!!!!! American needs to see that there are two types of Presidential Candidates:
Kerry, he cannot handle the ads by the Swift Boat veterans which criticize his Vietnam war record. Kerry has been crying and whining over these ads and cant handle it anymore, he has even filed a complaint. Now, Kerry is whining about the movie Stolen Honor. What type of Commander In Chief would he make if he cant handle the heat?
Bush, he can handle the heat from moveon.org, Michael Moores Fahrenheit 9-11 movie, war protestors, terrorists, and the world. He is a tough strong Commander In Chief and a fearless warrior who keeps on standing tall, positive, and strong. Nothing fazes President Bush.
On November 2004 I will vote for President Bush. I would like to see a real man as our President and not a rich spoiled crybaby Gigolo.
You know, any station whose ownership has just a little bit of guts and a big desire to make money should air this. Ratings will be good.
Once again, the Dems have stupidly miscalculated and inadvertently given the documentary a publicity bonanza.
They should have just shut their mouths; they made the same "mistake" with the Swiftees -- and that hurt Kerry badly.
I guess you can't teach an old Dem new tricks.
"Ratings will be good."
Heh. I think good is an understatement. unfrigginbelievable may fit better ;-)
This is the WRONG documentary in the WRONG place at the WRONG time. If I were President of Sinclair Broadcasting, we would be doing a documentary, but it would be the done the RIGHT way. I have a PLAN for making a documentary and, even though I believe this is the WRONG documentary, if you make me President of Sinclair Broadcasting I will see to it that the documentary is made the RIGHT way.
Makes sense to me. A lot of people would want to hear what these heros have to say. When you hire a president during a war you have to remember you are entrusting the lives of our best and brightest to his care. He needs to be someone you can trust.
I'll put more stock in such an occurrence if a legitimate source (read: not Newsmax) reports it.
Agreed. Newsmax: Meh...
find someone with Sat TV, or you can buy it i think. I will try to find a link.
That the question was asked, or that Kerry's camp refused to answer? Or both? :)
Will this be broadcast in the NYC Metro area?
Anti kerry documentary ping.......
After threatening Sinclair, kerry spokeman Chad Clanton told Linda Vester yesterday afternoon that Kerry wouldn't accept the invitation, so don't worry about having seen it on O'Reilly :)
I fell asleep reading your post.
I have Sat TV (Dish). What channel or network?
Legit concern except
NewsMax is directly quoting Sinclair spokesman Mark Hyman
go to your Sat TV website or the Sinclair website and datamine for it. I am on the west coast so Nevada is the closest Sinclair station to me. I am looking for how to get it. If i find a webpage with the info i willpost it.
The same with "The Passion".
Me too. How big is their organization? Will only a few people see it?
(I'll be over here holding my breath until they show it, okay?)
sure have been alot of October surprises ;)
Kerry shows zero decision-making ability in everything. Take for example his choice in running mates.
Bush surrounds himself with excellence.
Kerry surrounds himself with snake oil salesmen.
I cannot get it on my DirectTV but if I go up to the 2nd floor and disconnect the dish we can bring in Fox 45 from Baltimore with antenna.........We are not close to anything else
He can run but he can't hide.
