Ohio executes man who murdered for $15

LUCASVILLE, Ohio (AP) - A teen killer who told the parole board that he regretted letting eyewitnesses survive was executed Wednesday for a shotgun murder during a $15 robbery. Adremy Dennis was put to death by injection at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. His court appeals were exhausted last week, and Gov. Bob Taft denied clemency.

Dennis was 18 when he and an accomplice tried to rob two men outside an Akron home in 1994. One of the men gave up $15. The other, Kurt Kyle, 29, began searching his pockets, and Dennis shot him to death.

Dennis blamed Kyle for failing to cooperate and notice that he was high on drugs.

"I ain't saying it's all his fault, but why did he move?" Dennis said from death row. "Every day I think about that. It ain't 'Why did you kill that man?' It's 'Why did you move?'"

He told the parole board that he would not have left eyewitnesses "if my mind had been right at the time."

Kyle's friend who was robbed that night, Martin Eberhart, witnessed the execution. "The punishment fit the crime, and justice has been served," he said.

snip.....

At age 28, Dennis was the youngest inmate put to death in Ohio since 1962, and his execution was the 15th since the state resumed using the death penalty in 1999.

NOTE TO SELF: If ever up for parole on a murder charge, don't say you're sorry you didn't ice the eyewitnesses.

Good Riddance - unbelievable, his defense is to blame the victim he killed for moving - let's talk about some personal responsibility here, must have been a democrat, one less vote to worry about - what a scumbag, a "humane" execution was to good for this guy - "I just can't believe you are executing me for stealing a lousy $15, I mean I told him not to move, you're killing me over $15"...DUH, isn't that what you killed the victim over?

one less vote to worry about

I wouldn't be too sure of that in Ohio. Just because he's dead, doesn't mean he can't vote 'rat.

After 10 years in prison and 10 years of chances for self-reflection, he still didn't get it.

If there's any reason for teh DP, this case is it.

If I recall correctly, its part of the clemency process put in place after Gov. Dick Celeste commuted the death sentences of a few killers as he was leaving office.

He was not there seeking parole, he was automatically receiving a chance to have his death sentence commuted to a prison term. As almost always happens, the sentence was not changed.

I still say the death penalty isn`t a punishment. I mean what kind of punishment is being put to sleep? Yes you never wake up again, but do you think this punk suffered? Do you think he was made to think about what he did? No. He nods off and that`s it. To me a punishment for a punk like this would be like O`Rielly says, hard labor for life in the Antartic. Either that or force him to listen to Hillary Clintons speeches 24 hours a day for life. I mean look at this...I can barely take 2 seconds of that. To have to listen to this for life..THAT is punishment.

Hillarys screaming speech

I’m just guessing because I don’t know anything about Ohio, but a lot of places have a board of “pardons and parole.” They’re probably the entity you address at some point if you’re trying to get your sentence commuted or whatever. It doesn’t necessarily mean they were conducting a hearing to parole him.

“Raise up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6)

This is a repeat of the oft tragic story of what our inner city family has become. A fatherless household raises boys who learn their values on the street. The boy becomes a predator and kills for as senseless a reason as can be imagined.

When I read these stories, it makes my committment as a parent that much stronger. Two lives were lost here. The victim in the robbery and the predator when he was a child.
