I once had a conversation with a reporter who was covering both the Texas state Republican and democratic conventions. I asked him what the difference was with both of them. He looked at me then looked at the people walking around (we were standing around a booth in a large room at the Republican convention) and he said, "Well, you see all these people here? They all look like your regular go to church on Sunday, go to the bank on Saturday types." I said yeah. He continued, "The people who showed up at the other convention looked really different." How was that? I asked. "Well, first off the whole parking lot was filled with motorcycles and everybody in here seemed to be wearing leather and sporting tattoos." Oh, not you're regular go to church on Sunday types? "Nope. And the hair and things that were pierced. I feel much more comfortable here because these people look normal, like I'm at a neighborhood picnic on the 4th of July."

Someone should have told that reporter that Rolling Thunder endorsed President Bush at the White House on Memorial Day.
Then again, I don't know that they are the type of bikers who go for face piercings.
