The article is silent on this, but click on the image and take a gander at China.

NewSci, not surprisingly, makes almost no comment about that, pretending to be distracted by the ability to detect shipping lanes by their NO2 signatures.

What the hell is going on down there in southern Africa? Looks to be around Mozambique.

Does Teresa still have a mansion down there? Maybe she left the windows open.

I thought the same thing....I knew China would look like a hemorrhage, Atlanta would pop and Mexico City would be there.

But South Africa?!?!

Too bad they cut off Alaska. The oil fields show as hotspots because they flare excess natural gas. See the spot in the middle of Saudiland and around the Persian Gulf.

Looks to me like the Kyoto accords should be re-written to harass China and nearby countries instead of the United States.

Nahhh...the Leftists would never go for that. In their eyes, China is a worker's utopia. (*gag* *retch* *puke*)

I don't know if this is the situation here, but satellite photos showing optical light pollution show a fair amount coming from third world countries. It turns out that it's slash-and-burn agriculture.

I audited a business man just back from China. He said it was badly polluted a hundred miles away from the bigger cities.

Ohio is bright red. Surprising since Bush closed down all the manufacturing plants.

The majority of the red spots are from power plants which burn coal. This I know is true for the USA, China and South Africa.
