Vanity - Bush Over-Prepped for Tonight's Third Debate?
Wednesday, October 13, 2004 | Kristinn

Posted on 10/13/2004 3:22:46 PM PDT by kristinn

I've been listening to ABC News radio's hourly reports during the Sean Hannity show this afternoon. Their reporter, Ann Compton (IIRC) said that President Bush has been cramming (my word) for tonight's third presidential debate in Tempe Arizona.

She reported Bush aides have told her Bush had two debate run throughs with his sparring partner today. And that Bush has been reading note cards containing data on John Kerry's Senate voting record while being driven around in motorcades.

I hate to be a gloom-and-doomer, but this doesn't fill me with confidence. The last thing I'd want before a debate is to have my head filled with loads of new information and statistics and get burnt out with two debate run throughs with the real one hours away.

I figure by this time you go with what's in your gut, your head and your heart.

> I hate to be a gloom-and-doomer ...

But you will anyway, eh? :-)

> I've been listening to ABC News

Did you expect encouraging news & spin from ABC?

Keep in mind that Bush has a day job, and only has night
school and commuting time for campaign studies.

Kerry's 24x7 hobby is his campaign.

the debates don't even matter. there is a long time after tonights debate. with the super fast news cycles today the debates are crap. nobody cares, its what happens after that matters.

I think he should open with: "Jane Kerry, you ignorant slut!"

I agree.
If that first debate didn't do us in... it is very unlikely that tonights performance, even IF it were dismal (which it won't be), would hurt us either.

After last week's performance... I think Kerry may be more wary of his style of bs'ing his way out of tough questions. And tonight, W will be feeling positive about this week's rather good news... Afghan elections, Howard winning in Australia, the locals turning on insurgents in fallujah... and other items as well.

I think this might be extra good for W tonight.
He can keep his foot on Kerry's throat... and it's just about 'go time' for the elections.

no worries, for W, I should think.

Bob Scheiffer undoubtedly faxed the questions to Kerry yesterday so Nuancyboy could memorize the answers (prepared by his loyal staff), and get them all down to under two minutes. Sound familiar?

I have read somewhere that President Bush has a phenomenal memory. As long as he is relaxed and not fatigued before the debate,I think that getting all his facts can only help him,as he's not as quick on his feet in finding words and phrases.Having a good command of facts committed to memory should be helpful to him.

Why can't Bush just make up numbers like Kerry?

"John Kerry voted for a $2 per gallon gas tax. Is that the kind of big government we need in these times?"

Worry about the details later - at least people will be talking about Kerry's senate record at that point.

Let's hope somebody has the sense to make him eat steak, eggs and rye toast before he goes in.

Try not to worry.

Would you be brimming with confidence if it was reported the Prez did no debate prep whatsoever?

I gave Bush a "C" for his first debate performance, but a straight "A" for his second. I predict tonight he will even top that.

Snort? I dunno, but she does sound pretty ditzy sometimes. Today on one of the breaks for Rush, she said that Bush was gonna say stuff like "he is just gonna raise your texas" I swear it sounded so slurred and weird I had to repeat it, what the heck, raise Texas?

You can slap me around. It's just that as I was working on the other thread about the Vote for Change freep, I kept hearing these reports on the breaks during Hannity. They were stated matter of factly, not like she was trying to paint Bush as unprepared.

Yet just the other day we were told how Kerry spent TWO WHOLE DAYS doing debate prep while Bush was on the camaign trail, and how he was "really confident." Guess Bush can't win, huh?

I was one of the few not ready to jump out a window while the first debate was goin on. I'm not ready to jump out the window tonight, either. Just concerned.

I say we ditch the debates and just have a brawl on stage. My money's on Dubya, though I'm sure Kerry will make it tough by trying to pull his hair and bite the ankles. LOL

Relax. What will be, will be.

All we can do is Pray, which is powerful in its own right.

No matter how he does tonight the media will spin it as a loss or a draw. The wonderful news is that we don't have to see the Senator on stage with his better after tonight!

Three weeks to go and I expect everyone to stop letting the MSM dictate your mood and go round up those votes for our Prez.

I hope that, during all this prepping, they managed to get his eye blinks per minute down... that was the one thing which bothered me about the last debate.

Go get 'em, Dubya!

No matter how well Bush does tonight we know the MSM has already declared Kerry the winner. The most important thing Bush needs to do is go after Kerry on his record. He may not have done it enough in the second debate, but when he did I thought Kerry was knocked off balance. The senator is so super-sensitive about his voting record being scrutinized that the President needs to mention some tidbit about it after each answer. Bush will do fine tonight, but we need to prepare again for the media spinjob for Kerry.

Just concerned. I don't think there's a need to be concerned--nor do I think we should be complacent. If you're a praying gal, Kristinn, then pray. I know I'm going to. I firmly believe that pro-Bush/Cheney prayer has helped greatly in the last two debates.
