Pray for President Bush - Day 1487 (Election Countdown - 20 days)
Pray for President Bush ^ | 10/13/04 | kayak

Ephesians 5: 8-13

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

Heavenly Father,

How joyfully we come before You, assured of Your mercy and care! How grateful we are that You loved us enough to send the Word to us - Your precious Son and our Savior, Jesus. We believe and yet we stumble so we ask You to guide us and lead us, patiently instructing us that we may become better servants and more effective ambassadors for Your kingdom. Accept our praise, O Lord, and use us to Your glory!

Father, we pray for our President, a man who acknowledges his sins and his need for a Savior; a man who hears Your voice and strives each day to do Your bidding; a man who loves and honors his family and is faithful to them. Help him to continue his daily walk as a child of light, filled with goodness, righteousness, and truth. Lord, we especially pray for him during the debate tonight. Give him clarity of thought; the ability to convey his earnestness; and the wisdom that can come only from You. Fill him with peace and let his words be the words that You have placed in him.

Open the spiritual ears of his audience that all may hear the truth and know of this man's sincerity. Expose lies and deceits that are spoken tonight that all may be able to discern that which is true.

Lord, we continue to pray for the safety of our President and his family. We know that the threats against them are many so we call upon You to form a hedge of protection around them and to foil the plans of those who would cause them harm.

O Lord, we pray for those in our military, both past and present. Again, we call upon You to expose those things that are dark and deceitful and that have been done in secret. Strengthen our heroes that they may prevail against the forces of darkness who wish to thwart their missions. Heal the troops who have been injured and comfort those families who have lost loved ones in battle. Bring them Your peace and wrap them in Your eternal love.

Our nation has sinned, O Lord. We have shunned Your commandments and put greed, power, and self ahead of You. Forgive us, Father, and heal our land. Revive us through the power of the Holy Spirit that all may seek to know Your word and follow Your commandments. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

I woke up early and prayed for a long time, kayak, for the steady hand of our president tonight and for the wisdom of the American voter.

Lord, I agree with every aspect of my sister's prayer.

I support the president not because he is perfect, for no one is, but because he has a heart for You and I believe his vision for America is in line with Your will. For this reason I ask that You overlook any shortcomings he might have and extend grace to him. For the sake of the nation and Your unfolding plan of world evangelization, we must not fail at this critical juncture.

So much good is happening, both in Afghanistan and Iraq. These things should not be hidden from the electorate as it make its choice. We are appalled by the unfairness of coverage by major media outlets. We pray that they would come under Divine scrutiny, commensurate to the power they weild. We hope they will reform themselves and be balanced; but if not, we would have them held accountable.

Our fundamental prayer all along has been that the truth will come to light. We do not fear the truth. Do not allow liars and prevaricators, working under cover of darkness, to usurp positions of power. Open the hearts of the people to discern truth from cheap hindsight and empty promises. Reward the morally upright that sincerely seek You.

My special prayer is that the alienated minorities of this nation would be set free from their decades of identity politics. They have uncritically come to treat their political party as if it were a religion, and this idolatry has harmed both them and America. Worst of all has been their leaders. The traditions of man make Your word of no effect. You would free us, but entrenched interests resist insiduously. Soften hearts so that truth can enter. If their leaders will not reform then give them new leaders, men and women after Your own heart. And bring us all to repentance for how we approach our racial problems.

Lord, we have so much to be thankful for, most of all Jesus' redemptive sacrifice for us. We see all things in the marvelous Light that emanates from the Cross of two thousand years ago. We trust Your will and workings implicitly, for Your very Name is Faithful and True. May Your perfect will be done this evening. Let us not forget that the joy of the lord is our strength. In Christ's name I pray, “Grace, grace to it!” Amen.

AMEN KAYAK AND AMEN ALL.
GRACE TO YOU BRETHREN!

Ps 28:1 A Psalm of David. To You I will cry, O LORD my Rock: Do not be silent to me, Lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my supplications When I cry to You, When I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.
3 Do not take me away with the wicked And with the workers of iniquity, Who speak peace to their neighbors, But evil is in their hearts.
4 Give them according to their deeds, And according to the wickedness of their endeavors; Give them according to the work of their hands; Render to them what they deserve.
5 Because they do not regard the works of the LORD, Nor the operation of His hands, He shall destroy them And not build them up.
6 Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!
7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.
8 The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed.
9 Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.
(NKJV)

Dear Lord,
Your saints gather before Your throne of grace with prayer and supplication this evening.
Lord we thankyou for this time Your saints can gather and for this prayer ministry.
Lord,we pray for Your servant, our brother and president george walker bush.
Lord,we also pray for this land, may Your grace fill our president and preserve this land from the evil that would be the most liberal senator.

Re 13:10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
(NKJV)

"Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens."
- Lamentations 3:41

The act of prayer teaches us our unworthiness, which is a very salutary
lesson for such proud beings as we are. If God gave us favours without
constraining us to pray for them we should never know how poor we are, but
a true prayer is an inventory of wants, a catalogue of necessities, a
revelation of hidden poverty. While it is an application to divine wealth,
it is a confession of human emptiness. The most healthy state of a
Christian is to be always empty in self and constantly depending upon the
Lord for supplies; to be always poor in self and rich in Jesus; weak as
water personally, but mighty through God to do great exploits; and hence
the use of prayer, because, while it adores God, it lays the creature
where it should be, in the very dust. Prayer is in itself, apart from the
answer which it brings, a great benefit to the Christian. As the runner
gains strength for the race by daily exercise, so for the great race of
life we acquire energy by the hallowed labour of prayer. Prayer plumes the
wings of God's young eaglets, that they may learn to mount above the
clouds. Prayer girds the loins of God's warriors, and sends them forth to
combat with their sinews braced and their muscles firm. An earnest pleader
cometh out of his closet, even as the sun ariseth from the chambers of the
east, rejoicing like a strong man to run his race. Prayer is that uplifted
hand of Moses which routs the Amalekites more than the sword of Joshua; it
is the arrow shot from the chamber of the prophet foreboding defeat to the
Syrians.
Prayer girds human weakness with divine strength, turns human folly into
heavenly wisdom, and gives to troubled mortals the peace of God.
We know not what prayer cannot do! We thank thee, great God, for the
mercy-seat, a choice proof of thy marvellous lovingkindness.
Help us to use it aright throughout this day!

Just a pedestrian observation. Having two competing threads running is confusing. I think it would be better to, perhaps, incorporate sign ups in the regular daily thread, with a modified thread title. Thanks.

Lord,

Be with our president as he enters the debate floor. Please give him clarity of thought, the ability to focus on what is important and convey his thoughts and beliefs. Let the people see that he is a good man, a man of God, a man our country needs. Open their ears to Your Truth.

Let the lies of the opponent be exposed. Let his insincerity and secular views be so clear that they cannot be denied. Let our nation see how far it will fall if he is elected into office.

And protect EVERYONE who is at the debate, Lord.

Your will be done.

Amen.

W. just boldly witnessed for the Lord. And he tied it into spreading freedom around the world. May the Lord see fit to reward him for the greatest open public witness I've every heard from a president.

Kerry "respects" W.'s statement, but then goes on to politicize the issue.

Father in Heaven,

Our prayers have been heard, the debate is over. On behalf of my fellow believers, thank you for your answers. Thank you that the President showed that he is:

(a)a man who loves and honors his family and is faithful to them.
(b)a man with clarity of thought
(c)one with the ability to convey his earnestness; and the wisdom that can come only from You.

In Christ's name we petitioned Thee, in Christ's name we thank Thee, and in Christ's name we praise Thee.

Go W!!!! He took it!

I believe our prayers have been answered. President Bush has hit a "Grand Slam Home Run at the bottom of the nineth to win this debate hands down. This debate has made it crystal clear what position each candidate holds. Kerry believes life begins at birth, but also believes that women have the right to murder that unborn baby. So to him, truth is only relative. It is not absolute, each must make up his/her mind what each believes is "Truth". Jesus said, "I am THE Way, THE Truth, & THE Life, no man (or woman) can come to the Father but by me!" Let God's Truth ring in every person in America, and may America be Blessed by God Almighty again. 4 MORE YEARS, 4 MORE YEARS, 4 MOR YEARS!!!

They both had strong moments, but look at this commentary from NRO:

<><
ONE OF KERRY'S BIGGEST FAULTS TONIGHT [Jonah Goldberg]

I think you could see him thinking. What I mean is that when he got asked a question he should have known the answer to as a matter of character or values he had to run through his mental database for the answer. On abortion, on religion, on affirmative action you could tell that he was calculating the best political answer rather than his heartfelt answer.

On policy questions he usually didn't miss a beat. But on values questions he really seemed like he didn't know what to say about where his own gut and heart are. I think that sort of thing hurts him a lot with people who are still trying to judge the man, not the policies.

Posted at 11:19 PM

MaRRYING UP [Dave Kopel]
With all due respect to my esteemed webmistress KJL, Kerry's "marrying up" line was a disaster. For the voters who are deciding on character rather than issues (many of the undecided and uninformed voters), the line was a stark reminder that Bush is still married to the girl of his youth, through all the ups and downs of his alcoholism and career. Bush did not "marry up"; he married down for the woman he loved. Kerry, in contrast, married up for his first wife, dropped her, and then married up big-time for his arrogant billionairess second wife. Which guy would you trust for steady leadership? Hugh Hewitt gives Kerry an "A" for his response to the question, but I think Hugh is dead wrong. Game, set, and match to GWB.
<><

Me:
This is going to resound greatly for the pres. When all the hoopla is over, is it Kerry's debate skills people will remember or Bush's genuineness? He came across as loyal and sincere. Kerry came out of the gates as an attack dog, and never stopped, despite his flowery rhetoric.

It may take a while for this reality to sink in. The media certainly will try to spin it the other way. But all this, and Bush's MOVING TESTIMONY TO THE LORD OUR GOD is going to stick with people, even the Blacks. That's a language that everyone understands.
<><

Lord, Your ways are above ours. You have the ability to soften and mold and change hardened hearts. It would be entirely fitting that You would decide this election on the simple, humble matters of basic character, and that You would toss America a small stumbling block, such as Mr. Bush's lack of elocutionary skills, in order to prove her desire for sincerity and genuineness over the strength of the flesh. In faith I'm going to say thank you for a mighty victory this night. Not a knock out punch, perhaps, but one that will increase and mature with time.

Now we pray that You will continue to guide George Bush in the way he should go. Give him wisdom on the campaign trail. Put truth and compassion in his speech.

And we also lift up Senator Kerry and all of his ilk. They need You greatly, Lord. We see that in their dishonest tactics. We disagree with their agenda and ask that You put it down, but we also ask that their souls be saved. For no one gains when a soul is lost, when Christ has already paid the Ransom Price.

Thank you, Lord. Be glorified. Continue to lead us in how we cooperate with Your plans for this nation. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
