By Northeastern standard Lieberman would make a ok republican a good part of the time.

Lieberman is to Kerry as McCain is to Bush. Only difference is Bush doesn't run around quoting Lieberman at every opportunity.

While I do think that Lieb can maintain his honor much better than the dem drool out there...my guess is that Liebermann is lining himself up for some nice legislation named after him so he can retire soon.

You never know. I always found it hard to dislike Lieberman during the 2000 election. There is something very kind about him!

Senator Lieberman was recruited by Vice President Gore's campaign because he was considered to be more credible on foreign policy than the Vice President.
During the Democratic primaries, Senator Lieberman was the only realist on foreign policy, and he was punished for it.
It is not surprising that the Senator is still talking sense on foreign policy.
I find it surprising that he chose to criticize Senator Kerry on his poor record and lack of foreign policy credibility now.
It's entirely possible that with the chips down he cares more about America and Israel's security than his status in the party.
If so, I commend him for it.

It would, but I can't see it happening..Joe has been invisible this campaign, and he realy took a beating from his own party during the primary season..but, unlike Zell Miller, he hasn't laid the predicate for such a drastic action. But, there could be a "deal" in the works..Joe gets the Israeli ambassadorship, he resigns from the Senate, and the GOP picks up a seat..that's worth MORE than an endorsement..Look, the next Senate will have some monumental SC confirmation battles...Lieberman probably wants out badly..this gives him a way out with honor..

Lieberman has consistently praised President Bush on the war and chided anti war democrats! He gets it, may not agree with him on every issue politically but Lieberman is an adult and a Man, and should, if the Democratic party had a soul and a mind, have been their candidate.
Instead they let the hate Bush no brain crowds tie their party to the first shiny object in front of them... and have shown their party to be frankly a joke.

We got McCain
They got Lieberman
It's doubtful he'll come out and support Bush the way Zell Miller has. He has a much much different constituency than Zell. I live in Georgia, the reason Zell has been able to get away with what he's done is because A) he's retiring B) Georgia is far more republican these days. Even the dems. in GA. are more conservative than most moderate republicans.

"We are dealing with a president who's had a record of strong, consistent support for Israel. You can't say otherwise, Lieberman told an audience of 600 near Delray Beach, Fla, the Palm Beach Post reported in editions Thursday. " Karl Rove had better make a commerical out of that and put it on in every TV market in Florida ....
