I would be willing to bet this guy isn't the only Dem who feels this way.

I know a few liberals who have gotten awfully quiet about their support for Kerry. I met a UofM student the other day who said he was sick of having his intelligence insulted by the democrats.

I had a similar awakening politically after 9/11. I used to be a hardcore leftist nut-bag. but after 9/11 I took a step back and looked at what I was pushing for, and did research on what I had always been told to believe in the liberal-run propaganda farms known as "public schools". Needless to say I was apalled and ashamed of myself. Now I do all I can to set that right.

Damn this guy is preaching it.

As much as I disapprove of Democrat policies, it's the party's "means justify the ends" slash and burn political campaigning that has really made me detest them.

That's life in the post-Clinton, McAwful-led Democrat Party. A post-election Obstructionist reaction, endless lawsuits, whining about dirty tricks before any come about, may just be the final stroke that splinters the Democrats into a dozen little fractured parties...

I underwent a similar conversion. It wasn't quite as wide a swing as you took. For all of the lefts claims that George Bush is a "right wing extremist" he has drawn me closer to the center.

The AP reported this as a perfectly normal "voter guide" book, or some such thing.

God help us.

Because, in the end, that's what the national Democrats are doing: They're trying, however inadvertently, to destroy the Republic in order to rule it...

This is an excellent point, and indicitive of current Democratic values. The Clintons, for instance, are more than happy to run the Democrats into the ground in order to control what remains. Democrats in general feel the same way about regaining power. They don't care what it takes, or how much they have to destroy to attain their goals.

That's sort of like Clinton's bombing for peace.

I am so angry over so much of this it is hard to respond to posts. I become almost inarticulate. Part of this is due to the frustration that no one, NO ONE, will really fight to fix the voting problems. It all comes down to partisanship from all sides. It is OUR country, it is OUR vote, OUR voice, and we all let it be corrupted.

I do not know all the solution. As a start, I suggest an amendment which requires that to register to vote you must prove citizenship and that the states must provide regulations to eliminate as much fraud as possible. Personally, I would have no objection to having electronic social security cards created, and a scan machine which you have to use to register and also scan it to vote.

Now, let the screaming start. I can already hear it, but you already use your social security card for almost everything under the sun in this society. I am not suggesting that you have to put the card into a voting machine, just that it be used before you get to register and before you get your ballot.

Whatever is done, something must be done, because we no longer have a voice in our government. Our voice is stolen by illegal actions, voters voting twice, illegals voting, those ineligible to vote voting. Of all the rights given in the constitution the MOST important is our vote.

I am not a republican. infact they anger me often. but I tend to support whoever is closest. I am a libertarian (the real kind, not the legal party kind which is left wing not libertarian) but I absolutely hate liberals. they lie, they cheat, they use brainwashing techniques on children, they want a communistic sytem which time and time again has failed at the cost millions (over 200 million by my count) of lives in the last hundred years and worst of all they want to abolish the constitution which they only talk about if it is convenient for them. They are pushing for a 1984 (the novel) type of thought police world through "political correctness". They care more about what the frogs think than what is good for America. They speak of us as being "evil" because we are nationalistic, I don't know if any of you have ever been to France but they are more nationalistic than any American. They hate us because we are a superpower and they can't achieve that status no matter how hard they try. anyway I'm on a tirade here. My point was that I don't like to be lied to in the name of my best interests, I can judge that for myself. Anyone who lies to get their way cannot be trusted, which is the basis for my beliefs.

"that's what the national Democrats are doing: They're trying, however inadvertently, to destroy the Republic in order to rule it... "

great analysis -- except that it is NOT inadvertent . . .

and they do NOT think of our great Republic as a Republic . . . or they would not have used the courts to implement policies that the people and their elected representatives in the states want no part of . . .

if they can't get it through the voters or the legislature [including promoting a dumbed-down electorate, motor-voter-fraud, cemetery voter lists, etc.] then they get it through the courts . . .

if they can't get it through the courts, they'll try to get it in the streets . . .

as this author said, turning our Republic into a BANANA REPUBLIC in the process . . .

but they don't care, as long as they sit in the seat of power . . .
