sKerry figures that by his mentioning Cheney's daughter (instead of say, Gephardt's daughter)that some evangelical christians will not be able...in good conscience, pull the GOP lever.

Exactamundo! He could have mentioned Governor McGreavey for cryin' out loud. But no, he mentions the one person who is associated with the Repub ticket to make the point. It's disgusting. And Mrs. Edwards just made it worse with her comments about Mrs. Cheney having "issues" with her daughter's sexual preference. I don't know what made me more angry - Kerry or Mrs. Edwards. They both went over the line.

That's a bit too machiavellian view of things for me. I can't believe the Kerry campaign was pleased to have Katie question Kerry's motives or have Dee Dee criticize him.

OTOH, I can imagine a scenario where if Hillary wanted to do some damage to Kerry, that she (or Bill) advised Kerry to mention Mary Cheney. They ARE that machiavellian.

A very tiny percentage of homosexual phenomena has a real chemical/genetic origin. Most homosexuality is lack of sexual self-control, indulging the sex drive instead of mastering it.

Sorry, but I cannot agree. The science on this seems to be all over the place - there surely is no one generally accepted explanation. I very well remember my own (heterosexual) awakening. One day in early puberty I looked at a girl, and something suddenly clicked. I can't believe that most homosexuals feel those same attractions to the opposite sex, but for some strange reason choose to ignore them and go the other way. I'm assuming you're also heterosexual. Did you choose to be that way? I certainly doubt it. Why would homosexuals - other than in a limited number of cases - be different? As for mastering the sex drive, I don't see your point. It doesn't do anything to explain why the drive involved is a homosexual one.

I'll let you reread my post ... there is clear scientific evidence of a chemical (as in hormonal) derived sexual confusion in some small, very small percentage of individual humans. I didn't post the comments to enjoin an argument so I'll bow out now.

"John?"

"Yeah."

"It's Hillary. Great job taking a shot at Cheney's daughter. Keep up the good work. Hey, and while you're at it, the next time health care comes up, why don't you say something like 'the costs are skyrocketing. For example, I'm sure we all know that as a younger woman, Laura Bush drove a car that was involved in a fatal accident. We can only imagine how much it would cost today to have attempted to treat the victim.'"

"Gee, thanks for the great idea, Hillary, I'll be sure to use it."

"Terrific, John. And I'll be sure to invite you to my inauguration ball in 2009."

LOL. Thanks for sending. Are we sure that's Russert? Looks like it could be his thinner, better-looking brother ;-)

Just logging in haven't read through everything, but I couldn't believe they led the show off with it! Quite a few surprising things---her question to Matlin was accustory, while of course Dee Dee got the setup, but still I was surprised. Later on Katie actually defended Oreilly a little as well. But I had to mute the singing with Rod Stewart twice. You can tell that Katie self-deprecating remarks about her voice, which she never hesitates to showcase, aren't genuine. Just coy humility! Katie thinks she really has a good voice. Album coming up perhaps? A la Kathie Lee? (yikes!)
