Internal polling at Kerry HQ must be tumbling if he comes out and apologizes on something.

His apology made no sense and was not an apology. He did not say he was sorry, he said he was trying to point out how strong families dealt with the issue. Edwards did say something about Cheney's family but Kerry didn't. Kerry basically said that that he thought that Chaney's daughter would say that she was born gay. He made no mention of the Cheney family and it was NO APOLOGY.

"Not his Best Moment, Awkward, a Distraction"

Actually, I think Kerry's entire campaign is, and has been, awkward and a distraction.

One could only wonder the true enjoyment of a Howard Deaniac campaign would have brought to this, otherwise boring and self defeating excursion into oblivion, these "Democrat Party" loonies are on.

At least with Dean there would be enough comedic lines to actually make stand up comedy funny again. ;)

A distraction? How about a self inflicted wound? When edwards mentioned it, it was passed off as a casual remark. When kerry mentioned it it was obviously a talking point designed to appeal to the bigots out there and to pay homage to the radical gay and du types out there. There was no other reason to mention it twice during the debates.

How many gays out there simply go about their lives not wishing to wear their sexuality on their sleeve. How do you think that made them feel? How many people have gays in their family. How do you think this went over with them? this is not a bump in the road, this is the ditch.

Do we want a "distracted" Kerry in charge of these?

Kerry: "Oops. My boo-boo."

Can Lenny and Squiggy be far behind?

Unlike the intolerant left, we love the sinner but hate the sin.

You know, I agree. On a personal level, none of the conservatives that I know are homo-phobic. I can honestly say that I would love my children unconditionally, regardless of what choices they make, no matter how much I may disagree with them. Would it cause family strife? Perhaps. But the hard-core Christians understand love, and they will not hold this against the Cheneys. If anything, it illustrates the Cheneys as being tolerant for defending their daughter....it shows their love for her despite their disapproval of her lifestyle.

Definitely a mis-fire for Kerry.

Biting sarcasm in reference to his apology ....

Kerry Sorry for Remark About Cheney's Lesbian Child

(2004-10-14) -- John Forbes Kerry, father of two heterosexual daughters, today apologized for referring to the sexual preference of Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter during last night's final presidential debate.

"There's nothing wrong with being one of God's homosexual children," said Mr. Kerry, an openly-heterosexual veteran of foreign war who is also a U.S. Senator, "And far be it from me to pry into the private life of Mr. Cheney's lesbian child, who is gay and a homosexual. People can't choose whom they will love, and so I should not have mentioned that his daughter is a lesbian person, and not a heterosexual, but in fact a gay homosexual woman who is a lesbian with the last name Cheney."

Mr. Kerry said he would send a card to the vice president's daughter to fully express his regrets.

"I'm sure Hallmark has a nice collection of cards that say things like, 'I'm sorry I talked about your sexual preferences on national TV'," said Mr. Kerry. "But I really wasn't trying to remind conservatives that the vice president has a daughter who is not heterosexual, but rather a homosexual lesbian gay woman named Cheney."

Mr. Kerry's running mate, John Edwards, will reportedly issue an apology tomorrow for similar remarks he made during his debate with Mr. Cheney.

At the cost of revealing my ignorance, I have no idea who Lenny and Squiggy are. Could you please elucidate?

Mrs. Edwards should have stayed out of this and kept her trap shut. She and Mrs. H-Kerry are two peas in a pod: CLASSLESS LOUD MOUTHS.

Thanks for sparing me from having to watch this show. Your summary and insights in addition to your remarks are invaluable.

Now, everybody here knows why North Carolinians would not have re-elected Edwards and his crass-mouthed wife.

Thanks, Maria. As delicious as they surely are, in some ways the metaphorical cream cake is even better: "all of the kudos, none of the calories!"

Yes he is going to award himself a purple heart for this booboo just as he did for the 3 others. I was totally pissed about the remarks he made about Mary. I have a gay son and I am his Mom and will always be. You have unconditional love for your children and while I agree that they are born gay (now, don't flame me, you were not there}, one would not just pull that info out of the air at a debate.

It's from the spin-off of Happy Days--I think the title was "Laverne and Shirley," but if not, they were the two main characters.

It was set in the '50s and I believe they worked in a brewery?
