Nothing appears to be above exploitation. John Kerry even dedicated a speech he delivered on Monday to the late actor Christopher Reeve. Kerry said he knew the ''Superman'' actor for about 15 years through family and dedication to the same causes, and said Reeve left him a long voice-mail on Saturday thanking him for campaigning on the possibilities of a cure for conditions like his.
It had been originally reported that Reeve died on Sunday after slipping into a coma on Thursday following complications from treatment for a bed sore. After John Kerry's speech, reports of Reeve's death were changed to remove the reference to Thursday in order to make it possible for Reeve to call John Kerry and leave a long message for him on his answering machine on Saturday night. Evidently, Kerry didn't know about the ''coma'' part until after the speech, but his well-oiled damage-control team was already on it.
A blogger on Free Republic provided one example of the ''before and after'' media manipulation that kept John Kerry from having another ''Christmas in Cambodia'' moment like the ones that keep coming up every time he tries to exploit the dead.

Hal Lindsey has taken a hard look at the Kerry campaign, and he does not like what he sees: Disinformation. Voter fraud. Organized violence. Media manipulation. It seems that when Democrats vowed after losing the 2000 election (Yes, they did lose it, in spite of their efforts to steal it) that they would win in 2004 ''by whatever means necessary,'' they were not kidding.

Anyone have a screen shot or a cache photo or a hardcopy that says he went into the coma on Thursday?
Is it just me, or have the last 3 Democratic presidential nominees all been lying sociopaths? Each one worse then the last? And half the Republic is voting for these psychos?
Although I want to see Kerry defeated and Bush win with Every part of my being, this story does *not* add up.
Just look at the news article above! There is *no* mention of Thursday.
When I first heard this story, I rejoiced andthen checked hte news stories. Reeve had his attack and went into a coma on Saturday. THe news said so explicitly.
PLEASE, we can't win with an urban legend.

Update: WHO Des Moines appears to be the only one reporting he went into a coma on Thursday. ABC, CNN, and others are reporting that he had a heart attack at his Pound Ridge, New York, home on Saturday during treatment for an infected bedsore wound. He fell into a coma and never regained consciousness. CNN puts it this way:

My Eyes are playing tricks on me, because I read Thursday orginally too, and that is why I posted it from the other thread.
I am one that can not prove it, but, I distinctly remember when first reporting this, CNN saying Reeves had gone into a coma on Thursday. I was awake at an unusual hour and was hearing some of the earlier reports and reading the constant bottom blurb scrolling across the screen.
When I posted it from the other thread it said Thursday, to the best of my Recollection. But no copy on harddrive.

Somewhere out there, there is written proof, that we saw thursday. Such Treachery by the mass media is unbelievable.
Unbelieveable - Kerry has no shame and neither do his willing accomplices in the media.
I am still trying to find proof of what my eyes saw. :-)

CNN originally posted the Thursday part, a news station in Ohio (I think) also reported "Thursday". This was well hashed out on a previous thread.
My opinion Thursday, Saturday, Who cares??? Reeves went into a coma at the Latest on Saturday, and that's when Kerry said he got the call.
Which begs the question: Does a person, who is so severely ill have the ability or inclination to call a political candidate when death is so close at hand?
No brainer here, the answer is it does not pass the smell test, common sense test... NO WAY!
One thing for sure....Christopher Reeves was in a Coma on Saturday.

I'm not seeing any stories AT ALL that mention Thursday. This includes China and the UK. Either the original mention of Thursday was just an "oops", or Christopher Reeve's publicist is the one changing the days; he's the one all the stories quote for the Saturday date.
