SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (AP) -- The Federal Elections Commission fined Alan Keyes' 2000 presidential campaign $23,000 Thursday, and an ethics group filed a new complaint alleging misconduct by his current U.S. Senate campaign.

The FEC found that Keyes took excessive contributions when he sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2000. It ordered him to pay a fine and repay the government $95,302 in public funding that his campaign accepted.

His presidential campaign admitted accepting $168,200 worth of contributions over the individual donation limit, which in 2000 was $1,000 per person. It also acknowledged it had taken at least $15,000 in anonymous contributions, among other violations.

Okay, after pondering a bit, I think I get it.

The anti-Keyes (R)'s are Tonto? :-)

First, everyone, I just checked and Luis' profile is showing that he's not banned. He may have been told to cool it, but that's all.

You're a little late to the party, pal; Luis most certainly WAS suspended for thoughts and ideas that the Keyes people don't approve of.

But you're right about one thing: he was told not to post on the Keyes threads anymore, just like most of the rest of us have been.

Let's just keep things out in the open and honest; people are hitting abuse on anybody who has anything negative to say about Keyes.

I'm actually still not *exactly* sure what Amelia is "suggesting" anyway?

It's not rocket science. Think real hard now.

If you have the nerve, just say what you think is at issue.

This "wink wink," "nod nod" stuff is tedious.

Be a real man, or woman, or else shut up.

That would be refreshing.

And pass it on to poor howlin, and smug sinkspur.
Cheers,

Richard F.

Frankly, Richard, it is none of your business what I say to someone else here and you can take your "cheers" and put them ............well, you get the picture.

You write, in public,

"...it is none of your business what I say to someone else here"

Astonishing.

I thought this was a public forum, with public accoutability for arguments ... and sneers.

Why not use email, or the private channels here at FR, if you won't stand for public scrutiny?

I'd say instead, that you don't want to stand up for what you said, in public, "Put up, or shut up, or go private."

You have my regards, wherever you choose to place them,

Richard F.

Well, I rest my case.

I take it there is no public complaint, on your part, against the customary use of political mailing lists, and that this argument is ended.

I wish you the best.

Cheers,

Richard F.

Be a real man, or woman, or else shut up.

You're a real brave man with that abuse button at the end of your mouse.

But you're right about one thing: he was told not to post on the Keyes threads anymore, just like most of the rest of us have been.

So, was he suspended for posting negative things about Keyes or was he suspended for defying Jim Robinson? Or was he suspended for simply posting on a Keyes thread as you say in your second statement where you admit you are defying Jim too?

In a mere two statements you have put forth a multitude of premises. Are any of them even close to true?

Of course no one has ever been banned or suspended for posting negative truths about Pres. Bush and you've never had a hand in attacking them or hitting the abuse button on them have you? /sarcasm

All of them are true.

You're damn right about that; I don't hit the abuse button every time I see something trashing George W. Bush; I'm perfectly capable of making the points I want to make without calling in the police.

And if I had any pull at all to get people banned, this place would be a lot faster, you can bet that.
