Dear Voter,
We just received an outrageous letter from the Chairman of the Republican Party, demanding that we stop talking about the issue of the military draft.
He said that the draft issue is just an “urban myth” and Rock the Vote’s effort is being conducted with “reckless disregard for the truth.”
The truth is that we still haven’t received acceptable answers from the candidates to real questions affecting our lives. The possibility of a draft is not a hoax. It’s a real issue that deserves real answers.
An attempt to silence us by any politician—Democrat, Republican, Whatever—is unacceptable. This is one of the most important issues affecting our generation. And that’s why we need to stand up and make our voices heard right away.
Below is the letter that Rock the Vote sent back to the Chairman. Please read it.

We’re not going to stop talking about the issue of a draft simply because it makes the politicians squirm. We’re not going to let Congress think that a phony vote against the draft settles the matter.
By sending thousands of email draft cards and talking to your friends about the possibility of a draft, you ignited a national dialogue. If you have any doubt, just look at the last two presidential debates—both of which included questions for both candidates on the draft.

My friends are actually recieving these bogus "draft cards", and they DO believe that Bush is going to reinstate the draft...never mind the fact that the candidates speak for themselves. Ugh..MTV! I'll have to send my fury through the mail on Monday.

OK, I have to post the cliche - "What part of NO DRAFT don't you get?"
I think we should Freep "Rock the Vote" !
They won't be silenced because their entire campaign is dependent on lies. The possibility of a draft most certainly is a hoax and they know it. The House just overwhelmingly voted it down and it would never get a filabuster proof majority for passage in the Senate.
One thing we can do is to boycott Sunkist which is listed as their sponsor. Hitting the pocketbook usually makes a difference.
If the draft is reinstated, it will be because of Dem's. The Dems keep talking about our military is running thin, which is a lie. ONLY about 5% of our military is seeing any action anywhere.

Personally, I don't mind if this is posted more than once- I agree- this is madness. These youngsters are ignorant- and apparently incapable of hearing either Kerry or Bush on this issue.
My son (active duty infantry) tells me NO ONE in the military wants a draft- neither officers nor enlisted personnel.
How stupid. How can they say they bush hasn't given an acceptable answer? Bush said in the debate on national TV there wasn't gonna be one. The only people proposing it are Dems.

Kerry could be just as likely to institute the draft as Bush. IF we were attacked and needed people then I am sure someone would reinstitute if people keep acting like the Reservists who refused to go to Iraq.
It's ridiculous to be claiming it for either party, since it hasn't been talked about. HOWEVER it is COMMON SENSE THAT A DRAFT WOULD COME IN AN EMERGENCY WHERE THERE ARE TOO FEW TO SERVE. HOPEFULLY NOT, but we need to keep our perspective. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT A DRAFT IN WW II?? WE don't know do we, since there was one.

Bush has said clearly in the debates of recent (and many times before) that he is for and "all volunteer" army, and it will stay that way. I believe you are using the issue of a draft in a partisan political, and frankly- a hysterical manner. You are assuming the generation of MTV consumers are so stupid that all they have is MTV to give them "the facts". I don't blame the RNC party for calling you out, isn't it their right?
You act as though people can't hear with their own ears what the candidates have said about your "big" issue. Well, I heard Bush say "all volunteer" and Kerry say something to the effect of, 2 Active Duties.
So by your rules, I think you should be propagandizing Kerry's loose explanation of his goals for the U.S. Army, and questioning [just as loudly] his perspective on the future of the Draft. Why don't you let us all know about the 2 un-touched Bills sitting in the House which specifically call for a re-instatement of the Draft...written by Democrats.

Truth means nothing to agenda-laden doltish democrats masquerading as 'concerned citizens'.
This is an easy one. Using the Rangell/Hollings bills, Kerry's plan for 2 years of "public service" in exchange for 4 years of college and Kerry's call for two more Army divisions, you craft an MTV oriented campaign commercial announcing Kerry and the Democrats' plan for a new draft. Run it several times before the election.
This plan is REAL. No urban mythmaking is needed. How about "Rock the Vote" spread the TRUTH about that!

Unfortunately, it would seem that a majority of Generation Whatever-they-ares do, in fact, get their news only from MTV. I think a draft would be good for most of them. Teach them a little discipline and that the world doesn't owe them a living.

A dem (Rangel) brought it up, along with another dem whose name I can't remember, President Bush and Rumsfeldt have unequivocally denied that there will be a draft, we have the news media doing stories about not enough troops, and the dems are keeping it up by this E-mail. Part of their agenda.
I didn't know that only 5% of our military are seeing action, that's interesting. Shoots the dem's point about our military running thin straight out of the water, huh?

A very good reason for no one in the military wanting a draft is that you don't get the best, dedicated people for the job, you get conscripts. Not the best prescription for an effective military. Not to say that you can't win wars with a military draft, it just makes sense to use a draft only if it is necessary.
Rock The Vote is nothing more than a front group for the Democrats.
What is really sad is that the Dems have thrown EVERYTHING they have at President Bush and have nothing to show for it. Pathetic!
