Kerry Says A Red Sox Victory Comes Second To His Campaign. "We've been waiting since 1918 for the Boston Red Sox to win the World Series, and … if I had a choice between the White House and the World Series this year, I'm going to take the White House. How's that?" (Sen. John Kerry, Remarks In Taylor, MI, 8/1/04)

Seriously, what would you expect him to say?!? Kerry may be a dufus, but come on did you really expect him to say otherwise.

If I was him, I would have said something like: "This is the year we win the World Series AND the White House!!!"

Was this in response to a question, or did he just say this on his own?

the guy is not exactly a "sports" type of man...a manicure, spray on tan, Nah....he wasn't a team player in 'Nam and he isn't a team player in sports either...I can't believe Bush has not blown him away in the polls, yet

If the Houston Astros played the Red Sox in the World Series...

And if we could schedule a game between the Houston Texans vs the New England Patriots before the election....

And a preseason NBA game between the Celtics and Rockets...

Let all the teams in Texas win and Bush win! A clean sweep!

I agree but Kerry should have said something witty instead and blown it off. You don't EVER say you want Boston to lose... ever..

If he had a sense of humor, he would have made a joke:

"Would I trade a Championship for the White House? Well, if George Bush makes a similar bet, then I'm game."

I guess Manny Ortiz is still his favorite player.

Normally I would go for Boston, but in this case the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Kerry is a first class idiot and this proves it to me more.

I live in MA and the people here are totally freaked about this series. I was in the elevator today and normally no one talks. There were about 15 people gabbing about last nights game. We here in MA take our baseball very seriously.

this is why his campaign manager doesn't want him giving interviews. Kerry's TRUE character comes out when he is not scripted...and his true character could not care less about Boston Red Sox....unless it came achieve something for him...Please dear God do not let him in our Whitehouse...he is not fit to comman!

I thought the Packers played at Lambert Field and the Spirit of Green Bay hangs in the Smithsonian.

No one should hold the Boston fans responsible for Kerry. After all, they booed him when he lobbed the first pitch during his convention.

Mr. Bush is touring with Darrel Waltrip, Mark Martin and Bill Elliott ("Awesome Bill from Dawsonville") -- NA$CAR boys deluxe -- and you can bet our President knows exactly what each of these men drive and how they finished in the points the last time they raced.

Can you even imagine Kerry saying "Gentlemen start your engines!" I can't.

when hubby was living out west (before we met) he would place a bet on the Hens on a regular basis - the bookie always thought he was nuts, but he usually won!!!!!

For 20 years I wondered why UD refused to play Del State....I don't live in Delaware anymore, so I really don't care much. But the answer is simple, UD has everything to lose if they lost such a game and DSU has nothing to lose no matter what.

Sounds much like the Governor's race there right now. The incumbent has everything to lose everytime she opens her mouth, and her opponents have nothing to lose. I see a Republican in the Delaware governor's office on November 3rd and he will owe a major thank you to the Libertarian/Independant candidate.

And here I thought it was Ho Chi Minh. He played for the Hanoi Traitors with Kerry & Fonda back in the day.

I didn't need the link on your homepage to figure out the anagram - but used it to confirm my idea!!!!!!!

From Delaware to Jersey???

I went the other way.......born and raised in NYC, 21 years in Delaware, now in Virginia.

Yeah but I went from DE to MD to NJ. Worked in N. VA around Vienna area a while back. I live in the western part of NJ so it is actually nice here (except for very corrupt government).

My family is still in DE and I get down there occasionally.

I did work in Maryland while living in Delaware and would touch N.VA with a 10 foot pole.........I stayed on DelMarVa.

The western part of Jersey is beautiful, I won't disagree with that. But that's not the part that most folks in NY and DE are referring to when they talk about NJ. Exits 6 through 15 is more like it!!!

I heard Kerry say that the Red Sox had the worst world series losing record since Herbert Hoover. Also, if they make it to the world series, Kerry says they will be selected not elected.
