John Kerry's presidential campaign is complaining that Vice President Dick Cheney, a heart patient, received a flu shot this week, even though health officials have urged that only those most vulnerable receive the vaccine.But apparently team Kerry didn't notice on Monday when Hillary Clinton announced that her heart patient hubby Bill also received a flu shot, during an address about the vaccine shortage at a New York City health center. "Once again, the Bush administration proves that it is the 'do as we say, not as we do' White House," the Kerry campaign said in a statement issued late Wednesday, according to Agence France Press.
Cheney - a pacemaker-wearing cardiac patient who has had four heart attacks - would fit into the government's definition of those most vulnerable to a looming influenza epidemic, noted AFP.
So would recent quadruple bypass recipient ex-President Clinton.
Surely the Kerry campaign will be issuing a statement any minute now condemning the Clintons for "doing as we say, not as we do."

And it was the Clinton policy of forcing companies to sell their vaccines for less then cost that caused the US companies to stop making them.

Seriously, there will not be that much shortage this year. There are a lot of private sources and manufacturers world-wide and anybody with money can get it. More is going to keep showing up till everyone who wants the vaccine will get it in time. If you can get it by, say mid-December you should be fine. Flu usually hits in January, vaccine takes 2 wks to take effect.
Up until just a couple years ago, children were not recommended to get the shot. Elderly, ill and health workers got it. Then doctors finally realized that the more the merrier. It finally dawned on them that if everyone got the shot, fewer could get the flu. Then they needed more vaccine.
Truth is, manufacturing hasn't caught up with the new demands and if the govt would pay more, mfrs would make more; they've said it themselves flu vaccine is not profitable enough to make. Now they've shown us and maybe we'll get intimidated and pay more.
Just don't fly. Without the shot you will definitely get flu if you fly.

I mean, sure, I disagree with just about everything they say, but the past week or two they've been saying some eery things. They're not just bad people, they're really starting to get creepy! I don't know who is calling the shots inside the Kerry campaign, but whoever it is, they are either complete morons or they want to sink John Kerry. The Mary Cheney remark, the Laura Bush remark, the Dick Cheney flu shot remark, etc. are just lies, stupid, foolish and will hurt the Kerry campaign big time.
