Don't let the left silence the POWs!!!
"Stolen Honor "Parties"
You'd think Bush's staunchly pro-Israel stand would garner him more support from Jewish Americans in general, and maybe even some prominent Jewish celebrities. I guess abortion rights trumps all for some.
And by 'some' I mean liberals.
LOL! Looks like Kerry has been reading pat buchanan's BS.
KERRY-California, New York, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, Maine, Vermont, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Delaware, Maryland, DC.
TOSS-UPS- Iowa, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Florida.
52 electoral votes are up for grabs while KERRY has 205 in his pocket.
I'll declare now that if Kerry is elected, Israel will be finished. Thrown to the wolves in the name of liberalism.
I can't explain it, and believe me I've tried. I have yelled and hung up on my parents about this subject. Maybe because they're older and, hell, I don't know, I can't understand or excuse them.
And of course Taiwan.
I agree that Israel will be thrown to the wolves by the Democrats.
"...envision Chamberlain sitting across the diplomatic table from Satan, a dawning realization crossing his face: he has just traded away his soul for the promise of future negotiations..."
In the debate Bush made the point that he was unpopular in Europe for standing up for Israel. A good column in National Review discusses Jewish support for Israel. It finishes by noting that if Jews vote for Kerry anyway, it will show future Demcocrats they have no need to support Israel and show Republicans they have nothing to gain by doing so.
Another great one from Krauthammer. I've been refreshing the Washington Post site waiting for the new Krauthammer; looks like Townhall got it first : )
BTW, The Jewish Press has endorsed President Bush, and I personally expect an increase in the Jewish vote for President Bush to around 25%. Not terrific, but enough to take Florida.
Hi Phil, it just occurred to me that we ought to publicise the fact that Clinton wants to be Sect. Gen of the U.N. if Kerry gets elected!!
That's enough to scare you silly!
People who really want to know who Kerry is and what he is at his core understand that above all else he is a globalist.
Someone who seeks to curry favor with the UN understands that sacrificing Israel is THE easiest way to accomplish that.
There are a few like Ed Koch and Ron Silver. But as Dennis Prager says "I have to break it to many of them (older Jews)that FDR is not on the ballot".
Both of these are great.
Aren't you pinging me anymore, when you create good stuff like this? ;)
I'd put Michigan in Kerry's column. I didn't see New Mexico on your list but I put than in Kerry's column as well. Then if Bush takes Iowa and Florida (which I think he will) the other toss ups don't matter. I think that adds up to 271.
It isn't just Israel that will be thrown to the wolves.
WE ALL will be thrown to the terrorists.
Haven't you heard about feeding a crocodile, so it will eat you last?
After the Islamists would take over the Middle East, they will blackmail the entire world with oil, which is, like it or not, the lifeblood of modern economy.
If Kerry gets elected, we better learn which way is Mecca, so we'll know where to face five times a day.
Just think of how the Taliban ruled.
I don't think that the President Bush's support for Israel is the result of a pandering attempt to obtain Jewish votes, as you seem to suggest. I think it is heartfelt and based on his religious and ethical make-up. He believes that it is the right thing to do.
Even if President Bush were supporting Israel in order to obtain votes (which I don't believe is the case), I think that the votes that he would have in mind are those of the evangelical Christians. Common belief is that some 4 million evangelicals stayed home in 2000 rather than vote for President Bush.
Liberal Jews, like all liberals, in many cases have a lifetime (and, indeed, generations of lifetimes)of belief in liberalism as a kind of secular religion. Although I myself am a passionate supporter of Israel, I don't think that you can expect lifetime liberals -- regardless of their religion -- to ignore their life and family commitment to liberalism just because of President Bush's support of Israel. Most American Jews have never visited Israel anyway.
I do think that all liberals who plan to vote for John Kerry are pathetically short-sighted for not supporting President Bush because of his fight in the war on terror. In my opinion, this one issue trumps every other issue, as Mayor Koch has said time and again.
Nonetheless, I do expect President Bush to get Jewish support in the upper 30s. I realize that this is higher than the AJC poll which puts support in the mid-20s, but I think that the poll is based on old data.
"I'll declare now that if Kerry is elected, Israel will be finished. Thrown to the wolves in the name of liberalism."
This is why I really and truly believe that Bush will win, because God has always protected Israel, just look at your bible, and Kerry won't protect it, but Bush will.
"peace" = Surrender.
We have a choice fight and win or to surrender and die anyway, or wish we were dead.
"He [kerry] really does want to end America's isolation."
we are not isolated, in fact we are the best connected country in the world. who is he talking about being isolated from, god? aliens from outer space? non-heinz ketchup users?
this is the most rediculous statement i have read all day
DARN. I think my numbers were off, I was giving Florida to Bush when it supposed to have been a toss-up
BUSH-47, Kerry-43, Nader-1, undecided-9
I give it to Bush.
I messed up the numbers.
BUSH- 259 EV's. KERRY- 205 EV's, 79 EV's up for grabs.
I never said, and never meant to imply, that President Bush's support for Israel is a political trick to get Jewish votes. I assume it is sincere and in conformity with his overall policies and beliefs. However, the point remains that if his strong support of Israel does not gain him Jewish votes then future Republican politicians would properly conclude that supporting Israel will not gain them Jewish votes. You are probably correct that evangelical Christians are a stronger force of support for Israel than the largely liberal American Jewish population.
Charles Krauthammer - THE man in American Political Discourse.
Your preaching to the choir. The crocodile quote is from Churchill. In fact those that will feed others come close to being collobarators, which are worthy of far worse than our Islamist enemies IMHO.
SLICE & DICE CUT & RUN
DO YOU PAY ONLY 12½% FED INCOME TAXES?
In the effort to beat Kerry and the Left, building coaltions is the key, and as such I welcome the input of Krauthammer, especially in his devestating rebuke of Edwards disgraceful comments about people getting out wheelchairs if Kerry wins. Generally speaking, I agree with Krauthammer.
But I'll never forget his slander of people who think fondly of the Confederate flag as 'racist, redneck, yahoos' that he made after Dean spoke of going after their votes. There were at least two huge problems with that libel -- 1. It accepts the Leftwing notion that there is only one valid view of the Confederate flag; and that is of an inherently racist symbol and that anyone who displays one is a racist. This is of course garbage, and indicative of a malicioius ignorance. 2. Krauthammer was insulting the people most likely to actually vote for his preferred party - the GOP - and the people who are probably dying most disproportionately - rural whites - in the war in Iraq that he so eagerly supported.
So my feelings on the guy are mixed, but I welcome his efforts to beat Kerry.
All American Jews wake up, without Bush, there will be no Israel.
Yes, I momentarily forgot them.
I saw the producer/director of Airplane and Naked Gun on O'Reilly, a guy named Zucker, backing Bush last night because of Israel. He's not a household name like Spielberg, but he did make my favorite comedy of all time in Airplane.
And the American Jews still vote Democrat.
No child left alive, indeed.
I think that Rush has said that sticking the U.N. to us is the only thing that Kerry has been consistent with in his campaign. I think that's right.
Jackie Mason supports Bush.
Mostly I've read that here, and find the assertion hard to accept.
What if the demise of Israel is exactly what the US Jews (mostly liberal) want?
...He [Kerry] really does want to end America's isolation. And he has an idea how to do it. For understandable reasons, however, he will not explain how on the eve of an election.
Think about it: What do the Europeans and the Arab states endlessly rail about in the Middle East? What (outside Iraq) is the area of most friction with U.S. policy? What single issue most isolates America from the overwhelming majority of countries at the United Nations?
The answer is obvious: Israel.
In what currency, therefore, would we pay the rest of the world in exchange for their support in places like Iraq? The answer is obvious: giving in to them on Israel...
Moral Clarity BUMP !
This ping list is not author-specific for articles I'd like to share. Some for perfect moral clarity, some for provocative thoughts; or simply interesting articles I'd hate to miss myself. (I don't have to agree with the author 100% to feel the need to share an article.) I will try not to abuse the ping list and not to annoy you too much, but on some days there is more of good stuff that is worthy attention. I keep separate PING lists for my favorite authors Victor Davis Hanson, Lee Harris, David Warren, Orson Scott Card. You are welcome in or out, just freepmail me (and note which PING list you are talking about).
it will not just be Israel....Israel is the canary in the coal mine, next europe, then the U.S.
Prophecy will be fulfilled. I am convinced that
America has been blessed due to our unwavering support for Israel. I pray that we never turn our back or walk away from Israel, but it will happen. The world will turn it's full attention to the elimination of Israel and God has warned that the country will not be eliminated. Those countries who turn against the nation of Israel will receive the full wrath of God. May we continue to stand on her side regardless of world opinion.
I honestly wonder how supportive American Jews are of Israel. Doesn't it make sense that those who strongly support the right of Israel to exist have already relocated there?
Has Michigan actually flipped that convincingly to Bush?
I think you are right. They not only want the destruction of Israel, but the U.S. itself.
Ed Koch has been stellar.
By "the Jewish press," specifically whom do you mean?
Is the support of the Jewish press monolithic?
